Even before the USA women’s ice hockey team won the gold medal at the Milan-Cortina Olympics, captain Hilary Knight had something to celebrate. That’s because just hours before the game, she proposed to her girlfriend, speed skater Brittany Bowe, who happily accepted.

The engagement occurred outside the athlete‘s Olympic Village on Feb. 18. The couple celebrated what they called their “full-circle” moment, having met at the 2018 PyeongChang Games and bonded during the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

Neil Dutta, Managing Director of the U.K. jewelry retailer Angelic Diamonds, shared several details about Bowe’s engagement ring that he described as “practical” and explained why Knight chose a ring like that for her partner.

Dutta told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “The ring is a slim gold band with inlaid diamonds rather than a raised centre stone. The diamonds are flush-set into the band, keeping the profile low and practical. Given Brittany’s job, it’s great that Hilary has chosen a design that is both comfortable and durable. There are no high settings or exposed claws, which makes it easier to wear daily.

“A ring like this would typically sit between $5,000 and $8,000, depending on total diamond weight and metal purity.”
