Venus Binkley, one of the breakout stars of the rebooted Vanderpump Rules, is reflecting on his time on the series’ 12th season. As with every season of the show, some relationships that were solid at the beginning were in tatters by the end. In Binkley’s case, his relationship with two close friends changed while filming. He is also not on good terms with another cast member. He discussed his dynamic with his castmates

Venus Binkley spoke about his relationship with the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ cast

Now that the latest season of Vanderpump Rules has come to an end, Binkley said he is closest with Natalie Maguire. He believes that the experience of being on a television show brought them closer together.

“I’m closest probably to Natalie, just because we kind of trauma bonded not only at SUR, but with the show,” he told The Daily Dish.

The same cannot be said for castmate Angelica Jensen. He said filming with her and watching the show made him want to keep his distance.

“And then I’m probably on the outs with Angelica,” he said. “I don’t really like her behavior right now or watching her back on the show.”

He admitted that his relationship with Marcus Johnson and Kim Suarez also changed while they were filming. Binkley once considered them good friends. Now, he does not feel the same closeness. He admitted their turbulent relationship wore him down.

“I kind of lost that respect and value of friendship that I had with them before. And today, it’s like I love them, probably always will, but now I have more boundaries,” he said, adding, “I don’t involve myself with their relationship. I don’t even want to hear about their relationship. I love them individually for who they are, and I don’t want no part of like anything in between, other than that.”

He said he looked forward to being an openly gay castmember

While Vanderpump Rules has featured queer people, Binkley believed it was missing a gay main cast member.

“We’ve gone 11 seasons without a main gay cast member,” he told Decider. “If you walk outside of SUR, it’s a gay man or a gay woman. Like, come on.”

He believed the show, which takes place in West Hollywood, desperately needed a “gay icon” on the cast.

“Someone has to fill that role, and I feel like I can do a pretty good job of that,” he said. “I hope it shows the people that are struggling with their sexuality that no matter what, resilience and belief in yourself can get you to the No. 1 show in the world.”

“Actually, Tom Schwartz has been the nicest and most approaching person from the OG cast that I’ve experienced during this whole process,” he said. “I really love him, and I’m honored to even be acknowledged by him truthfully. He’s right by SUR, so I get to see him very often and he always has the best advice.”

Binkley said Schwartz’s advice was to be “authentic.”
