Rihanna never disappoints when she arrives at the Met Gala, and this year was no exception. Riri perfectly captured the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme, donning a tailored suit gown by Marc Jacobs accented with a polka dot ascot.
The outfit also displayed the “Umbrella” hitmaker’s baby bump, revealing to the world that she and A$AP Rocky are expecting baby No. 3. However, Rihanna’s big news was spilled ahead of her arrival by Colombian singer Shakira. The “Waka Waka” artist stopped to speak to a reporter for NBC Los Angeles when she arrived and talked about how excited she was to see the “pregnant” Fenty Beauty founder.
Judging by how surprised the reporter was to hear that, Shakira quickly put her hands to her face and asked, “Am I not supposed to say that?”
After realizing what she had done, the “Whenever, Wherever” songbird tried to laugh it off and quickly moved on.
Shakira’s Met Gala appearance came amid her world tour as she begins the U.S. leg in a few days.
She kept busy after attending fashion’s biggest night as she performed on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon the following evening. Shakira was joined on stage by Wyclef Jean for a special performance marking the 20th anniversary of the hit “Hips Don’t Lie.”
Rihanna and Shakira have collaborated in the past on the 2017 song “Can’t Remember to Forget You,” so hopefully Riri isn’t too upset and fans can remain hopeful for another collaboration between them in the future.
