Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will resume its filming schedule

The cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will return to work. The domestic dispute between Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen that led to a production pause has been resolved. No criminal charges have been filed. According to People, Hulu is now ready to pick up where it left off, following the investigation’s conclusion. Still, there appear to be some changes to the cast. Dakota Mortensen won’t be returning, and Taylor Frankie Paul’s involvement remains a question mark.

While People insists neither Mortensen nor Paul will be returning for Season 5, there is some conflicting information about Paul’s role in future seasons. Several insiders claim Paul can return, in some capacity, if she so chooses. Her costars might not want her there, though. Since the series centers on the women, Mortensen doesn’t really have a role given his current relationship status with Paul. He seems OK with that, though.

Dakota Mortensen won’t be returning

While rumors suggest Taylor Frankie Paul has the option of returning should she choose to do so, Dakota Mortensen has already made his decision to step back from the reality TV world. At the very least, he’s stepping away from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Mortensen won’t be appearing in the upcoming season, and his storyline on Vanderpump Villa has also been scrubbed.

The Utah-based Mortensen recently took to Instagram to reflect on closing a painful and toxic chapter of his life. He insists he is focused on his child and moving forward. While reality TV fame certainly changed Mortensen’s life, it seems he has alternative revenue streams to fall back on. He’s only really been involved in public life for a few years and appears interested in perhaps heading back into the shadows. That’s what Taylor Frankie Paul’s first husband opted to do.

What did Dakota Mortensen do before the show?

While Dakota Mortensen has had an interest in reality TV for years, he built out a couple of businesses between his different appearances. He has owned and operated Basin Tiling, a construction company specializing in tile work, for years. The company’s Instagram hasn’t been updated in about a year. Still, three new Google reviews suggest Mortensen might be ready to pick up the trowel once again.

If the hard labor of tiling no longer appeals, he could also move into the real estate realm. Mortensen announced his plans to jump into real estate last year, insisting that he had earned his license years earlier but hadn’t really used it. Both the tiling business and his potential as a real estate agent could be enough to keep him comfortable, even without a reality TV paycheck.
