Whitney Purvis Arrested for Involuntary Manslaughter Weeks After Son’s Death
Whitney Purvis, who appeared on Season 1 of 16 and Pregnant, has been arrested. Purvis, whose legal troubles have made headlines several times over the years, is facing her most serious charge yet. The mother of two has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after police linked an overdose death to her.
Whitney Purvis Arrested after fatal overdose
Whitney Purvis is no stranger to the police, but her most recent arrest may result in significant jail time. The 16 and Pregnant star has been arrested in her home state of Georgia, and it’s serious. She has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, a felony, in addition to drug charges.

According to TMZ, Purvis is accused of giving a man a fatal dose of Tranq. Tranq is a potent street drug that is a mix of Fentanyl and Xylazine. It is unclear how the former reality TV participant knew the victim or how police connected her to his death. Purvis is also charged with possession with intent to distribute. She remains in custody.
The ’16 and Pregnant’ star recently lost her son
Purvis, who was not asked to participate in Teen Mom, has remained in the headlines from time to time since her episode aired. Most recently, she was struck by tragedy in June when her son, Weston Gosa Jr., died suddenly at the age of 16. The teen, who had battled several medical conditions during his young life, was living with his father, Weston Gosa Sr., his stepmother, and his brother at the time of his death.
While Purvis and Gosa have a complicated co-parenting relationship, they appeared initially as a united front in the face of tragedy. It didn’t take long for drama to take over, though. Purvis took to social media shortly after Weston Gosa Jr.’s memorial service to throw accusations at her ex, suggesting he banned her from the boy’s funeral. He denied the allegations.
Gosa Sr. has not commented on Purvis’ recent arrest. Aside from Weston Jr., the pair shares a son, River, who is 11.
