Former 16 and Pregnant stars Whitney Purvis and Weston Gosa Sr. are battling it out in the media weeks after their son, Weston Gosa Jr., was found dead at 16. According to reports, Gosa Jr.’s memorial service was held last weekend, but his biological mother was shut out. Purvis claims she was turned away by a “greedy” and “soulless” ex. Gosa Sr. is telling a different story.

Whitney Purvis was denied entry to her son’s memorial service

Whitney Purvis and Weston Gosa Sr. have very different takes on what happened at their son’s memorial service over the weekend. TMZ spoke to a source who claims Purvis was told to arrive for her son’s memorial service at 4 pm, but when she did, she was turned away. The insider claims Purvis said she was told she wasn’t on the approved guests list. In her own Facebook post, she accused Gosa Sr. of lying about the situation. She claims the father of her two older sons “gets off” on her suffering. She went on to say she believes things would have been different if she had maintained custody of the teen.

Gosa Sr., however, has a different take on what went down. The father of two told TMZ that he provided Purvis with all of the correct information for their son’s service, including the fact that the viewing began at 2 pm with a memorial service to follow at 4 pm. He told the outlet that his ex was on the list but that she had turned up after 4 pm. The service was already underway. The doors had been locked to protect the family’s privacy, which led to Purvis being left out of the service. Gosa Sr. says several of Purvis’ family members arrived on time and were on hand for the service.

Weston Jr., whose birth was featured on season 1 of 16 and Pregnant in 2009, died from natural causes on June 3. The teen was battling several health conditions for most of his life, including a genetic disorder known as Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. He also had diabetes.

Whitney Purvis did not have custody of Weston Jr. at the time of his death

While Whitney Purvis and Weston Gosa Sr. did not appear on Teen Mom like most of the women featured in season 1 of 16 and Pregnant, fans were kept abreast of changes in their lives via social media. Whitney, in particular, is active on Facebook and Instagram. The duo has also made headlines a handful of times since their brush with reality TV stardom.
