Why Did Keke Palmer Fire Law Roach?
Law Roach is a stylist to the stars, and his client list includes some of the industry’s biggest names, from Zendaya to Ariana Grande to Céline Dion. One name is no longer on that list, though. Keke Palmer famously fired Roach a few years back, and now he’s opening up about what happened. It’s not nearly as drama-filled as you might expect.
Why did Keke Palmer fire Law Roach?
Law Roach appeared on Aspire with Emma Grede this week, and he brought plenty of insider information to the table, including the story of getting the boot from Keke Palmer. During his chat with Grede, Roach revealed that Palmer fired him in 2022 after they clashed over how to style her pregnancy.
Palmer wanted red carpet looks that would conceal her baby bump, hoping to keep her pregnancy with her son, Leodis, under wraps for a while. Roach wanted to go the other way: he wanted to dress the bump and celebrate her pregnancy through fashion. He admitted that he just couldn’t get the looks right based on what she wanted, which left the “energy” between them off.
How did the conversation go down?
Apparently, Palmer noticed the shift in energy, too. Roach revealed that she addressed the issue head-on, telling him he might be the best stylist in the world, but he wasn’t the best stylist for her.
He didn’t argue. Roach recalled simply accepting her decision on the spot, and he insisted he wasn’t hurt. He framed the call as a smart business decision from someone who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. In the end, he just couldn’t deliver looks she felt good in.
There’s no tension between Keke Palmer and Law Roach
This isn’t the first time the two have talked about the split, and they’ve always done it warmly. In October 2024, Roach shared the story onstage with Palmer at an event promoting his book, How to Build a Fashion Icon, and Palmer teased him in return. He also discussed it as a guest on her podcast, Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, in July 2025, where she made clear she still adores him.
Fans have largely praised both sides. Many applauded Palmer for delivering the news personally instead of having someone else do it, and Roach for taking it gracefully. These days, Palmer works with a stylist who seems to deliver on her vision: Zoe Costello handles most of her red carpet looks. The partnership has produced some of Palmer’s most iconic looks. They seem to be on the same wavelength, which is the ultimate goal for a stylist. Roach has his own connection with other stars, too.
