Who Is WNBA Star Chelsea Gray’s Wife, Tipesa?
After playing college ball at Duke University, Chelsea Gray was selected by the Connecticut Sun with the 11th pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft.
The point guard missed the entire 2014 season recovering from a knee injury, making her debut the following year. In 2016, Connecticut traded Gray to the Los Angeles Sparks, where she joined forces with league stars Candace Parker, Kristi Toliver, and Nneka Ogwumike. The team won the WNBA championship that year.
In 2021, Gray left the Sparks in free agency and signed a multi-year deal with the Las Vegas Aces. The club was crowned back-to-back champions in 2022 and 2023. In 2025, Gray looked to add more hardware to her collection when the Aces made the playoffs again.
Now fans want to know more about the six-time All-Star, including who she’s married to. Here’s more about her spouse, Tipesa Gray (formerly Tipesa Mercedes Moorer).
When Chelsea and Tipesa Gray got married
The couple met in 2014. After their initial encounter, Chelsea slid into Tipesa’s DMs. They began talking then and started seeing each other.
Four years later, they got engaged and tied the knot on Nov. 2, 2019.
Their wedding took place at the Bel Air Bay Club in Los Angeles. A few notable WNBA stars attended, including Candace Parker, Ify Ibekwe, and Jantel Lavender.
Tipesa Gray is an athlete as well
Tipesa was born on March 5, 1990, in Long Beach, California, to parents Joe and Nona Moorer.
She has two siblings, Joseph and Tiffany. Athletics run in her family, as Joseph played college basketball for the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers. Her uncle is former heavyweight boxing champion Michael Moorer.
Tipesa played sports as well. She began playing basketball when she attended Narbonne High School. Her efforts and talent on the court were recognized during her senior year when the Los Angeles Times named her to the All-City First Team. She also earned the All-Marine League honors for her outstanding performance.
Tipesa continued her career at the collegiate level as a forward on the California State University, Long Beach, women’s basketball team.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts as well as her Master’s in sports management. She later served as the Director of Operations for Women’s Basketball for LBSU. According to her LinkedIn profile, Tipesa has worked as a Social Media Specialist at Bearly Marketing and a Logistics Coordinator at Premier Global Logistics. Today, she is the Director of Athlete Relations for Transition Play.
How many children do the Grays have together?
The couple announced on Halloween in 2023 that they were expecting their first child together.
In a joint Instagram post, the Aces guard and her spouse were all smiles. Tipesa cupped her growing bump while Chelsea held up a onesie with the words, “A Baby is Brewing.” They captioned it “Happy Halloween.” In the second photo, Chelsea is beaming as she holds the onsie up to Tipesa’s stomach.
They welcomed their son, Lennox Ali’i Gray, in February 2024. His godmother is Candace Parker.
Little Lennox is no stranger to social media, as his proud parents have shown him off in quite a few posts. He’s no stranger to attending WNBA games either as he’s been spotted at plenty of Mama Chelsea’s.
