Who Is WNBA Star Rookie Paige Bueckers’ Girlfriend Azzi Fudd?
There is a rookie who has taken the WNBA by storm like Caitlin Clark did in 2024, and that’s Paige Bueckers.
The Dallas Wings guard made history on Aug. 20, 2025, when she scored 44 points in a game against the Los Angeles Sparks. Not only is that the most points scored by any player in the league this season, but it’s tied for the 10th most of all-time.
Bueckers’ numbers since being selected with the first pick in the 2025 draft have been nothing short of great. She shot 80 percent from the field against the Sparks and had three assists and four rebounds to go with her career-high points.
Now with so much attention on, her fans want to know as much as possible about the star rookie including who she’s in a relationship with. Here’s more about Bueckers and her partner, Azzi Fudd.
When Bueckers and Fudd met
After a few signs and rumors that the two were dating, Bueckers confirmed the news by calling Fudd her “girlfriend” in July 2025. The women have been friends for years and, up until 2024, played together at the University of Connecticut.
They met when they were teenagers and were trying out for USA Basketball team at summer camp in 2017.
In 2019, Bueckers made the UConn’s women’s team. The following year Fudd committed to the school and by 2021, they both played on Geno Auriemma’s team.
Fudd has her own podcast
Fudd comes from a basketball family. She was born in Arlington, Virginia, to parents Tim and Katie Fudd.
Her father played college basketball at American University from 1991 to 1996. He then went on to play professionally in Europe. Her mother also played basketball at the collegite level for North Carolina State before she transferred to Georgetown University. She was later drafted by the Sacramento Monarchs in the 2001 WNBA Draft.
Before UConn, their daughter attended St. John’s College HS and was No. 1 ranked recruit. In May 2024, she received her bachelor’s degree in communication. Fudd is currently a graduate student at the university,
She recently launched her own podcast titled Fudd Around And Find Out.
“This has been a dream of mine in the making, and I’m so excited to work with iHeart and Unanimous Media to bring it to life!” she wrote on Instagram ahead of her first episode in August.
Fudd said she would ‘mess’ with Bueckers if she played against her
Fudd has been spotted supporting Bueckers at her WNBA games when she can make it. And since they’re no longer wearing the same uniform the women are thinking what could happen after the 2026 draft, and the possibility of playing with each other again or against each other.
“Paige is the kind of teammate that everyone wants to play with because she’s so selfless,” Fudd told Glamour. “The way she plays, she gets everyone involved. She’s also just a great player, so she attracts so much attention that it makes it easier for everyone else to get good looks and opportunities on the court. So, I definitely would love to play with her again; at the same time, I’d love to play against her. I think it’s kind of a win-win. There’s no bad option.”
Fudd then shared what she would try to do against Bueckers since she’s pretty much unstoppable, saying: “I would just mess with her, but at the same time, when you talk trash to her or mess with her, she gets in another zone and then there’s no stopping her. So I don’t know what I would do.”
