You Won’t Believe How Much Kate Middleton’s Date Night Earrings Actually Cost
Prince William and the Princess of Wales, formerly known as Kate Middleton, stepped out in style for the Royal Variety Performance in London on Nov. 19.
For their double date night with Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, Kate donned a velvet bodycon Talbot Runhof dark green gown featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline. She accessorized with an eye-catching pair of diamond chandelier earrings that are so expensive the price will make your jaw drop.
Here’s more on that, plus what a body language expert noticed about Kate’s interaction with singer Jessie J, who was also at the event and, like the Princess of Wales, recently battled cancer.
Kate stunned in earrings that cost an eye-popping amount
Kate’s sparkling earrings were hard to miss as they dazzled with every step she took. Now, the jewelry and diamond experts at the U.K. retailer Steven Stone are sharing details about the earrings.
Maxwell Stone told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Reportedly made in 1929, Kate’s diamond chandelier earrings were gifted to Queen Elizabeth II by her parents on her wedding day in November 1947. Their Art Deco design incorporates a lexicon of modern diamond cuts — including half moon, trapeze, princess, baguette, baton, and emerald.
“The late monarch regularly wore the jewels throughout her life — most recently during a visit to Toronto in July 2010 — so it’s touching that Kate has brought them back into the spotlight, having debuted them at Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan’s wedding in June 2023. Our experts estimate the sparkling earrings to be worth $2 million.”
Expert says Kate showed a ‘strong connection’ with Jessie J, who also battled cancer
Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and TV as a consultant and received the title of the “Human Lie Detector.”
Stanton analyzed the Princess of Wales’ embrace with Jessie J on the red carpet and their shared connection over battling cancer.
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “There is a real heartfelt connection; it is not just a showbiz hug. You can see that Kate has her hands tucked right around Jessie J, and it is reciprocated. They are matching and mirroring each other’s gestures and emotions — a sign of really deep trust between them. If that trust wasn’t there, people subconsciously would not allow that level of closeness.”
The body language guru added, “We have these things called proximal zones, and we keep people in different ones depending on our relationship with them. Even in a hug with someone you aren’t close with, there will be some distance. That was not the case here; they both let each other in. The hug is similar to one you would see from close friends or family. There is clearly an incredibly strong connection between the two of them.
“There is a strong empathy between them. They both have their eyes closed. This is a gesture that signals understanding and a sense that they feel safe in each other’s presence.”
Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.
