Zachery Ty Bryan Racks Up Sixth Arrest in 5 Years
In the 1990s, Zachery Ty Bryan rose to fame on Home Improvement. Then, just a pre-teen, he portrayed Brad Taylor, the eldest son of Tim Taylor and Jill Taylor. The series ended when he was 17, and while he initially pursued more acting, he more or less left Hollywood in 2009. He was relatively quiet for many years, with no reports of trouble, then 2020 happened. His first publicized arrest took place in 2020, and things have not gone well since.
Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested again
Zachery Ty Bryan is back in the news, and it’s not for a good reason again. The former child star has been arrested for probation violations in Oregon, and the details of the arrest are a little wild. According to People, police in Eugene, Oregon, responded to a distress call on November 29 and found Bryan and his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, in a dispute.
Bryan was arrested on the spot for violating the conditions of his probation, though it’s unclear exactly what condition he violated. His probation was set to expire in October 2026. Cartwright found herself in hot water, too. She was arrested on several charges, including DUI, reckless endangerment, and attempted assault. Several reports suggest she tried to run Bryan over with her vehicle, though that has yet to be confirmed.
Zachery Ty Bryan has been arrested a half dozen times now
Zachery Ty Bryan’s most recent arrest is far from his first. He’s been locked up six times in the last five years. His return to the public consciousness after his acting career ended came in the form of an arrest. Bryan was living pretty much under the radar until 2020, when he was arrested in Oregon following a domestic dispute. The original charges included felony strangulation, fourth-degree assault, and interfering with a police report. He later pleaded guilty to menacing and assault and was sentenced to three years of probation. He was also ordered to take classes and not contact his victim.
Bryan did not adhere to the guidelines of his probation. In July 2023, less than three years after the original incident, Bryan was arrested for robbery, assault, and harassment. He was picked up, once again, in Oregon for his crimes. According to The Independent, he pleaded guilty to felony assault.
2024 brought different crimes. He was arrested twice that year for driving under the influence. The first arrest happened in California. The second took place in Oklahoma. A few months later, in January 2025, he was arrested, once again, following a domestic dispute, this time in South Carolina. His most recent arrest stems from a violation of the 2023 incident. His fiancée, who is believed to have been involved in several of the previous incidents as a victim, was also arrested.
