Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney Discussed the Long Delays Before ‘Euphoria’ Season 3
Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney are back for the third season of Euphoria. The two actors were major parts of the first two seasons. They took a lengthy break between the second and third seasons, though. They both spoke about the years that it took to get the third season of Euphoria on the air.
Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney said they waited a long time for ‘Euphoria’ season 3
At the recent premiere of Euphoria season three, creator Sam Levison addressed the four years between seasons. The third season premiered in April 2026, and the second season ended in February 2022.
“The fact that we’re actually here and we’re able to pull this season off — that’s nothing short of a miracle,” Levinson said at the premiere, per Vanity Fair. “Some people asked why it took so long between seasons two and three. There were obvious factors — the strikes, trying to make a schedule work with our very in-demand cast — but the real time was in trying to figure out how to find a way to pay respect to those who we lost.”
When asked about the lengthy break between the two seasons, Zendaya said she was not the problem. She took a break from acting at this point and had no other projects blocking her schedule.
“I will say, I have been off for a couple years, so not delayed because of my … I’ve been open, just waiting. [Laughs.] I’ve been waiting,” she told Vanity Fair. “I’m actually going to start filming a project soon before Euphoria, and I’m like, Man, I’m rusty. I haven’t been on a set in, like, two years almost. I’m a little bit terrified. I’m like, Can I even do this anymore? I don’t know.”
Sweeney admitted she had to pass on some projects because she was waiting to film Euphoria. When she realized the newest season was taking longer than expected, she finally decided to move forward with her career.
“There were definitely a few projects that I had to pass on because I was supposed to be going back to Euphoria,” she told Vanity Fair in a separate interview. “But because I am producing now, I was able to say, ‘You know what? I don’t think this is happening. I’m going to put some of my own projects on the slate.’”
