Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is dominating the television industry. He’s an executive producer of the extensive Power Universe and his new crime series based on the real-life Flenory brothers, BMF. The Queens-born rapper reportedly has a ton of other projects coming down the pipeline. However, it looks like he’s ready to return to the big screen.

50 Cent wants to star in a romantic comedy, and the “21 Questions” rapper wants to enlist iconic rapper Nicki Minaj to help him do it.

How did 50 Cent get into film and TV?

Though 50 Cent began his career as a rapper, he has expanded into film and TV. In 2005, he starred in the film version of his life, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. He’s also starred in movies like Den of Thieves and All Things Fall Apart. However, his start as a TV tycoon began with Power.

In the early 2010s, writer/creator/showrunner Courtney Kemp approached 50 Cent. Kemp wanted to do a show about a drug kingpin looking to leave his life of crime behind for a new legit life. Kemp needed 50 Cent to understand the street side of her narrative.

Kemp told Variety, “There’s no version of Power working without our partnership. [50 Cent] has always been a great producer.”

50 Cent wants to star in a rom-com with Nicki Minaj

Now, 50 Cent wants to do something totally different. Speaking with Jalen Rose on the New York Post’s Renaissance Man podcast, 50 Cent revealed that he thinks it would be “fun” to star opposite Minaj in a romantic comedy. “You know who would probably be fun to work with? Nicki Minaj would be fun to be in a romantic comedy with,” he said at the 43-minute mark. “I kinda understand her a little bit more than the other people. When she’s being an a**hole it’s because she’s telling you, ‘You’re not going to take advantage of me.’”

Since they had very similar upbringings (both were born and raised in Queens), 50 Cent says that he understands Minaj. He explained that the public misunderstands her, referencing her coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination Twitter debacle and her marriage to a convicted rapist and sex offender, Kenneth Petty.

Minaj recently found herself in hot water after claiming the COVID-19 vaccine caused the swelling of testicles and infertility on Twitter (via Forbes). Moreover, her husband Petty has been in the news after pleading guilty for failing to register as a sex offender, according to NBC News.

“I feel like she’s being attacked in a different way publicly,” 50 Cent said. “It’s because of…choices [like] who you decide to be with. C’mon bro … That’s her personal life, and she’s decided her personal business is personal. Why do you care?”

50 Cent’s next film will be a horror movie

If the romantic comedy doesn’t work out in his favor, 50 Cent has plenty of other things he’s working on. In addition to the Power Universe, BMF, and his drama series, For Life, he also has a horror movie in the works. The rapper/executive producer has teamed up with SAW director Darren Lynn Bousman and the writers of The Conjuring Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes for a horror film based on New Orleans’ infamous LaLaurie Mansion. He shared the news via Instagram.

“We are going to scare the s### out of you,” he wrote. The LaLaurie Mansion has been around for over 200 years, and it used to house enslaved people. It has been reported that moaning and footsteps can be heard from various rooms in the building.
