Fans of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days have had plenty of drama to discuss over the past couple of months. From uproar over the age gap between certain couples to the way that some relationships went down, the fan community has been kept very busy.

Possibly the most controversial couple in the mix is Big Ed Brown and Rosemarie Vega. Fans have been divided over the couple from the very beginning of season four of the TLC series, and even following the most recent “tell-all” episode, viewers are finding new ways to take issue with the media’s seeming infatuation with Big Ed

What is ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ about?

90 Day Fiancé has been one of the TLC network’s most popular shows since debuting in 2014. The original series features several couples who have applied for or received a K-1 visa and have only ninety days to decide whether to pursue their relationship and marry each other. The show was an immediate hit and spawned several spinoffs, including 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, which debuted in 2017.

In the years since the spinoff show’s premiere, it has become nearly as popular as the original and has definitely become as buzzworthy. The show follows couples who met and established relationships online, but who have not yet met in person. Each season chronicles a series of new couples, and what happens when the American half of the couple travels to their partner’s home country, to see if they want to continue the relationship, or break things off and discontinue the process of getting the K-1 visa.

Big Ed and Rosemarie were a controversial couple

Season four of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days kicked off in February, with five new couples for viewers to follow. The most controversial was undoubtedly Big Ed Brown and Rosemarie Vega.

Big Ed, who hails from California, and Rosemarie, from the Philippines, were excited about their first initial meeting, but things went downhill quickly — both for the couple and for viewers.

Many fans took issue with how the much-older Big Ed treated Rosemarie, telling her almost right after their meeting that she should shave her legs and gifting her with mouthwash and a toothbrush because he thought her breath was smelly. In addition, the California native wanted the young mother to get an STD test, which didn’t sit well with many viewers.

Ultimately, their romance seemed doomed from the beginning, and after some serious ups and downs, they decided to go their separate ways

The wild ride of season four of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days has finally slowed down a bit, but the media is still just as obsessed with Big Ed. He has become very popular on Instagram and has been posting regular content over the past few weeks. While he is certainly getting a lot of attention from the media as well as some fans, most people are not thrilled with Big Ed’s boost to fame.

Some fans took to Twitter to express their frustration with the fact that Big Ed is getting so much attention. As one poster stated, Big Ed is a narcissist and doesn’t deserve the money from interviews and promotional opportunities. Another Twitter user called out Big Ed’s “white privilege,” also taking issue with the fact that he is getting so many interviews.

Certainly, at the rate he is going, Big Ed is likely to crash and burn sooner rather than later — even if it might not be soon enough for many critics.
