Adam Sandler and Sarah Silverman are two of the biggest names in comedy. Both have been in Hollywood’s comedic circles since the ’90s and experienced enormous success. Interestingly, Sandler and Silverman have a surprising connection that’s inspired comedy sets and Easter eggs throughout their entertainment careers.

Adam Sandler and Sarah Silverman come from the same hometown

Silverman is a New Hampshire native. She was born in Bedford and raised in Manchester, New Hampshire. Sandler, on the other hand, was born in Brooklyn but moved to Manchester when he was six years old. Although Sandler is three years older than Silverman, he is the same age as Silverman’s older sister Laura.

Sandler and Silverman’s sister attended the same school in Manchester. While he and Silverman weren’t friends, their parents were. Sandler’s mother, Judy, was Silverman’s teacher at some point, which inspired one of the Uncut Gems star’s comedy sets.

Adam Sandler and Sarah Silverman both worked on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Saturday Night Live has helped launch the careers of many comedians and actors. A gig with the NBC variety sketch show serves as a rite of passage for many soon-to-be comedic personalities. Silverman and Sandler both got fired from the sketch show.

Silverman worked on Saturday Night Live from 1993 to 1994, only appearing for one season before the show cut ties with her. Similarly, Sandler worked for SNL until his firing in 1995. Therefore, it’s possible that the duo worked together since Sandler began writing for SNL in 1990.

Some fans on Reddit shared their experiences with the duo. Many users seemed to have a connection with Sandler and Silverman. One user posted a map of New Hampshire, saying, “Just found out that [Adam] Sandler, [Sarah] Silverman, and Seth Meyers were all born and raised in New Hampshire.”

One of the users commented on the post, saying, “My aunt used to babysit Sandler. Nice guy.” Another user shared that they got invited to a party Silverman’s mom threw. They said, “I have no memory of her mother, but her stepfather was charming.” The user also noted that they attended the same high school as Sandler’s best friend.

Another quipped that they didn’t share any “second-hand connections to Sandler” but had a colleague who went to the same school as Silverman. One Redditor said, “Sandler’s sister is my dentist,” and another shared that their friend’s aunt went to prom with Sandler. They said, “Not sure if they bumped uglies or not.”

Sandler has included Easter eggs of his hometown in many of his movies. For instance, in Grownups, the star wears a University of New Hampshire shirt. Some shots in the film are of Lake Winnipesaukee in The Granite State.

Just like a Reddit user wrote, Seth Meyers does come from Bedford, New Hampshire, having been raised there.

In 2018, the talk show host shared his pride in seeing Silverman’s Saturday Night Live bit. Meyers, too, had a stint in SNL in 2001. He shared that hearing his hometown mentioned on SNL “was the most exciting thing that had ever happened to me.” Meyers currently hosts his talk show, Late Night With Seth Meyers.

Mandy Moore also hails from New Hampshire. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, Moore rose to fame as an actor and singer. She’s appeared in Princess Diaries, A Walk to Remember, and recently wrapped filming for This Is Us. Others from the state include Josh Logan, Betty George, Janel Bishop, and Carl Cameron.

Considering New Hampshire’s small population in comparison to other U.S. states, perhaps it’s unsurprising that Sandler and Silverman’s families’ paths crossed from time to time.
