Addison Rae is well known to social media users everywhere as one of TikTok’s biggest stars, and a girl who has made a career from her dancing skills. Rae rose to fame in the summer of 2019 and these days, she’s more popular than ever. With He’s All That out on Netflix and a budding music career, Rae has shown that for those with talent, the sky’s the limit. Still, Rae’s first love will always be dance — and as she revealed in a recent Entertainment Weekly interview, one particular choreographer’s work has served as a major inspiration, helping her to appreciate dance “so much more.”

Addison Rae Easterling, known simply as Addison Rae to her millions of fans, was born in 2000. Raised in Louisiana, Rae entered the world of competitive dance when she was only 6 years old. Rae participated in competitions all over the country, discovering a natural affinity for dance as well as performing in front of others. After she graduated from high school, Rae enrolled in Louisiana State University, where she studied sports broadcasting. However, she ultimately decided to drop out of college in order to pursue her budding social media career.

Rae moved to California and in 2019, she officially joined the video-sharing platform TikTok. Rae’s videos first started gaining popularity in July 2019. After a few months, Rae became one of the platform’s most popular stars, gaining over one million followers. In early 2020, Rae signed with a talent agency and began investigating other projects that would allow her to utilize her natural talents. Through it all, Rae has continued to post videos on TikTok, delighting her millions of fans and followers.

Rae might have first become famous for her dancing, but with new music and a new movie out, many fans are learning more about the young star’s many talents. Still, dancing remains her first love, and as she revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, there are certain influences that have a major effect on her work.

In the interview, Rae admits that there is one choreographer, Sean Bankhead, whose work she really admires. “He did Normani and Cardi’s new song/video, he choreographed it, and he’s done a lot of stuff with Lil Nas,” Rae revealed. “I love his choreography, and like, when I watch (his work), I just think, ‘Wow, this makes me appreciate dance so much more’ … to see the burning passion for dance in other people is so inspiring.”
