Fans who’ve kept up with the first nine seasons of Ryan Murphy’s hit show are delighted to hear the series will return with American Horror Story Season 10. So far, we know the series name is Double Feature. The season will touch on two separate storylines. Now, the new poster gives even more clues into what could happen in season 10. Here’s the clue fans are missing.

What is ‘American Horror Story: Double Feature’ about?

The creators of the show announced American Horror Story Season 10 will feature two totally separate storylines, thus giving it the appropriate name Double Feature. Back in March 2021, Murphy posted the first promo video to social media. “Two horrifying stories, one season,” the video explained. “One by the sea, one by the sand. More to come….”

Murphy later wrote even more context to his Instagram. “It means TWO SEASONS for the fans airing in one calendar year,” he explained. “So double the viewing pleasure. One set by the sea (this cast already announced). A second by the sand (that cast announcement coming).”

Given what Murphy stated about the casting, it seems the first half of the season will take on the sea storyline. The first episode of the season is allegedly titled “Cape Fear,” and it will take place in Provincetown, Massachusetts. One of the first promotional posters for the season showed a fanged mouth, too. This might be in reference to the “Black Flash,” a well-known urban legend on Cape Cod.

The new poster for the season gives even more clues about the plots — including one clue fans may miss

Now, fans get a glimpse of the new promotional poster for American Horror Story Season 10. According to the official Hulu account, the poster shows the upper half of the poster as an alien head in what looks like a desert landscape. The bottom half of the poster looks like a fanged monster in the sea.

“Taking you under 8/25, next day on #FXonHulu,” the poster caption reads.

Given the rumors regarding the “Cape Fear” episode and first half of the season, there’s even more evidence to support the “Black Flash” fanged monster will make an appearance. Additionally, given the monster is underwater, perhaps there’s a mermaid/siren element to the season. Fans on Twitter guessed the first half of the season will revolve around sirens, a half-bird, half-woman creature often mistaken as a sea creature from Greek mythology that lured sailors to their deaths.

As for the top half of the poster, it looks like that portion of the season is “set by the sand,” as Murphy suggested. So, what are fans missing from the poster? There’s a reflection of the sea and what appears as a lighthouse in the alien’s eyes. This could allude there’s a connection between the two storylines despite how different they may seem.

“It’s interesting — it looks like the alien is staring at a coastline/waves by the reflection in its eye,” a Reddit user noted.

“To me, it looks less like a lighthouse and more like a sailboat with a creature perched on top,” another fan guessed.

So, will fans see American Horror Story Season 10 on Hulu? According to the advertisement on Twitter, the season premiere happens on Aug. 25 on FX, and Hulu will stream the episode the next day.

Unfortunately for season 10 production, filming was halted temporarily due to an actor testing positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). It sounds like the first half of the season was already filmed by the time the test came back, though. While fans might see a delay in the second half of the season, there hasn’t been any official word yet on any delays.
