And Just Like That… is a sequel series to Sex and the City, and it ran for 10 episodes. The events of the show take place 11 years after the second film. Viewers see what the original characters have been up to over the years.

Miranda, Charlotte, and Carrie remain good friends. They continue to navigate a complicated life in their 50s. Some of the original stars reprised their roles, such as Cynthia Nixon and Sarah Jessica Parker. However, three characters did not make an appearance in the revival.

The story introduced a couple of new faces instead. One new character is Che Diaz, and Ramirez plays them. Viewers meet Che in the first episode when Carrie participates in their LGBTQ-friendly podcast.

Miranda eventually meets Che, and the two end up having chemistry. Che becomes her love interest, and they get together after Miranda divorces her husband. Originally, the writers planned to have Nya Wallace start a romance with her. However, Nixon requested the switch.

Sara Ramirez responded to the dislike for Che Diaz

Some fans did not feel satisfied with the show overall, and one of the criticisms was toward Che. One reason people dislike them is that Miranda broke up with Steve to be with them. Sara Ramirez spoke up about the negative feedback Che Diaz received online.

According to People, Ramirez does not recognize themself in their character. Additionally, the writers are in control of Che and not the actor. Ramirez pointed out that Che is not around for the audience’s approval.

“I’m very aware of the hate that exists online, but I have to protect my own mental health and my own artistry,” Ramirez stated. “I’m really proud of the representation that we’ve created. We have built a character who is a human being, who is imperfect, who’s complex, who is not here to be liked, who’s not here for anybody’s approval.”

A portion of viewers does not mind having Che around. Others likely enjoy the representation they bring to the table. Fans might warm up to Che over enough time during a rewatch.

The And Just Like That… star opened up about which original cast member they crushed on. During an interview, Ramirez revealed they had a thing for Parker growing up. They mentioned that their crush was “out of control.” Of course, Ramirez was ecstatic when they got to meet their idol.

Ramirez became starstruck and told Parker how much they loved her work. The two got to share scenes since their characters work on a podcast together. Of course, Ramirez got more screen time with Nixon since they played her love interest.

It’s unclear at this point, whether there will be a second season of And Just Like That… However, it’s safe to say Ramirez savored the time they had with being a part of the beloved franchise.
