Duggar family followers continue to keep up with Josh Duggar’s court case and imminent sentencing. Josh Duggar was found guilty on two counts of downloading and obtaining child sexual abuse material. More recently, statements from Josh Duggar’s wife, Anna Duggar, as well as other family members have made their rounds. Here’s what Anna said in a statement regarding her early years with Josh.

Josh Duggar met his wife, Anna Duggar, back in 2006 at a homeschooling conference. Both Josh and Anna were homeschooled by their parents, and they connected over their shared religious background. Us Weekly reports Josh then proposed to Anna on her 20th birthday. She reportedly wanted to wait for marriage until she was 20. They then tied the knot on Sept. 26, 2008.

Soon after their marriage, the new Duggar family couple announced they were expecting their first child. Mackynzie Duggar was born on Oct. 8, 2009. Today, they have seven children together.

Josh and Anna hit their first major relationship snag in 2015. Josh was accused of molesting several underage girls, a few of whom were his sisters. He later admitted to the crime. Additionally, leaked information from the cheating website Ashley Madison showed Josh had an account with the site. This further tested the couple’s marriage, but they stayed strong.

While Josh and Anna could’ve separated after Josh’s arrest in 2021, Anna continues to support Josh and believe in his innocence.

Anna Duggar describes her ‘first few years of marriage’ in a new court document ahead of sentencing

New letters show Josh Duggar’s wife, Anna Duggar, explaining how she views her husband. The letter, written to the judge, explains how the couple met 16 years ago, and Anna explains how she believes Josh is an excellent husband and father to their children.

“During our first few years of marriage, Joshua and I enjoyed working together at our used car lot in Springdale,” Anna wrote. “There, I admired my husband’s diligence in his work and also his perspective — that people are more important than a quick sale. Joshua would often spend hours out of his day chatting with and listening to various homeless people who would pass by on the sidewalk. And many of our customers also became our friends.”

Anna then went on to state that Josh cares for others “because they are created in the image of God” — and that hasn’t changed.

“My children and I rely on Joshua for financial, emotional, and physical support,” Anna added.

Josh Duggar’s sentencing happens on May 25, 2022. According to KNWA Fox24, the prosecution recommends 20 years in prison for Josh’s crimes. His crimes include downloading and viewing child sexual abuse material on his computer and using a “hidden partition on his work computer” to hide the evidence.

“He went through the effort to download, install, and password protect this partition — all to avoid detection,” the government’s sentencing memorandum stated on May 11, 2022. “Duggar, perhaps more than any other individual presented to this Court, was willing to go through exhaustive efforts to obtain CSAM without detection. Duggar’s criminal activity was also deliberate and precise.”

The memorandum went on to say that there is “simply no indication” that Josh can “change this pattern of behavior.”
