‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s Anthony Mackie Once Shared the Best Story About the Time Beyoncé Serenaded Him With ‘Halo’

We all have immense love for Beyoncé. Even Mackie, who others have said is a real-life tough guy, idolizes Beyoncé and has so much love for her that he's attended more than one of her concerts over the years. During an appearance with fellow actor Judy Greer on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2018, Mackie shared that he's a member of the infamous Beyhive and was amongst the loyal crowd during one of Beyoncé's performances. He also revealed that during the concert, he made eye contact with the Queen Bey herself and that the two of them had somewhat of a moment while she sang her hit song "Halo."

Anthony Mackie is an actor who became a household name thanks to his portrayal of Sam Wilson / Falcon / Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Though many have come to know a few things about Mackie’s life and career over the years, one fact about him that might not be public knowledge is that he is a huge fan of Beyoncé. So much so that he previously told a story of how he fangirled over the singer while attending one of her concerts a few years back.

Anthony Mackie had a moment with Beyoncé at one of her concerts

Many of us have immense love for Beyoncé. Even Mackie, who others have said is a real-life tough guy, idolizes the Queen Bey and has so much love for her that he’s attended more than one of her concerts over the years.

“I’ve seen Beyoncé several times,” the actor said during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2018.

During his appearance on the show with fellow actor Judy Greer, Mackie shared that he’s a member of the infamous Beyhive and was amongst the loyal crowd during one of Beyoncé’s performances.

“So once I saw Beyoncé at Madison Square Garden, and around the stage, she has this thing called the Beyhive, and I got Beyhive tickets, it’s me and Katie Holmes.”

Mackie revealed that during the concert, he made eye contact with the “Crazy In Love” singer and that the two of them had somewhat of a moment while she sang her hit song “Halo.”

“Beyoncé’s coming down the stairs, she’s singing ‘Halo’… and she looks at me, and she goes, ‘Halooo,’ and I’m like, ‘Oo-oo,'” the “8 Mile” actor explained. “She reaches her hand out, and I hold her hand. And she looks at me and she sings like eight words, but it felt like 18 bars. And she was definitely holding my hand because she thought I was cute.”

He then quipped, “I might match this couch, but Beyoncé thinks I’m fine.”

Beyoncé isn’t the only musician Anthony Mackie is a big fan of

Though he had a connection with Beyoncé at her concert a few years back, she isn’t the only singer Mackie has publicly expressed his love for.

In 2016, the actor revealed that he’s a big fan of the classic soul group Earth, Wind & Fire while opening up about his ongoing debate over musical preferences with fellow Marvel co-star Chris Evans.

“The greatest band in music history — pound for pound, they invented the crescendo — [is] Earth, Wind & Fire,” Mackie said, per Yahoo. “I don’t care what nobody say, I’ve never been sitting on my couch and was like, ‘Man! Put on that Doobie Brothers CD!’ Never happened. And I love the Doobie Brothers, all right?”

He continued, “Earth, Wind & Fire is the greatest band of all time. If you don’t believe it and have iTunes I will give you 40 bucks. Download 40 songs and it’ll blow your mind.”

Second to Earth, Wind & Fire in Mackie’s book is Lionel Richie, who he believes is a legend in his own right.

“You can’t get a girl with Lionel Richie? You’re a loser,” Mackie said. “All of my high school years, every time I wrote a girl a note it was literally 16 bars of Lionel Richie [lyrics] and then I would sign it ‘Anthony Mackie.’ She would be, ‘Oh my God. You’re such a poet.’

“I’m just saying, call your girl and recite one of Shakespeare’s sonnets and she’s going to go, ‘What the f*ck are you talking about?'” he added. “Call her and recite one Lionel Richie song. You’re going to be tazing her off you. Real talk.”

Though Lionel Richie and Earth Wind & Fire are the top musicians in Mackie’s eyes, we’re sure that Beyoncé isn’t too far behind.
