Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio goofed off a lot on the set of ‘Titanic’

Jack and Rose have a romance that feels rather Shakespearean in nature. Their love story is so intense and passionate that you’d never believe how goofy the actors became once the cameras turned off. DiCaprio and Winslet were continually trying to make each other laugh on set.

According to Rolling Stone, DiCaprio and Winslet would get under a blanket and giggle about intimate topics. It’s almost as if the two had been best friends since childhood because they instantly connected.

According to Rolling Stone, Dicaprio used to fart in his jacket and put it over Winslet’s head. This would cause her to shriek with laughter. “I mean, if anybody else in the world did that, they’d get slapped, and the other person would walk away and not talk to them for a week,” says Cameron. “With Leo, Kate would just crack up.” Billy Zane adds. “Grossing Kate out was purely Leo’s job. He was really good at it.”

Although there is constant speculation that Winslet and DiCaprio are secretly star crossed lovers, Winslet tells Rolling Stone that DiCaprio sees her as “one of the guys.” Both Winslet and DiCaprio feel that their platonic relationship works best for them because they can genuinely rely on each other as “support systems,” as DiCaprio puts it, without jealousy or romantic quarrels getting in the way of things.

DiCaprio tells Oprah, “In a lot of ways, Kate and I have really grown up in this industry together. We’ve been a support mechanism for each other for such a long period of time. We’ve been there for each other and helped guide each other.”

Regarding their platonic status, Winslet admits, “It’s so disappointing for people to hear that because, in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story, we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs. But we actually never did.” Winslet then says, “We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours, and it was a shock to the system.”
