While many producers would have concerns about putting millions of dollars into a film, those behind Endgame – if history has proved anything – don’t have much to worry about. Avengers: Infinity War had an estimated budget of $300 million and made $2.048 billion in box office sales. And let us remember, Infinity War was only part one of the final chapter.

Avengers: Endgame is the ultimate finale: the one we’ve been waiting for since the first Iron Man hit the silver screen back in 2008. This movie, over a decade in the making, is not to be missed. No true fan is going to risk facing a spoiler when it comes to Endgame.

With a poster, a teaser, and one full-length trailer in place to build hype, it’s clear that the team did not invest much in marketing (as they had no need to), but that does not mean the budget was any less excessive.

Just how much did ‘Avengers: Endgame’ cost to make?

According to earlier reports, it was estimated that the total budget for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame (combined) was $1 billion, implying that Avengers: Endgame cost over $600 million, as Infinity War reportedly cost between $300 and $400 million.

According to Forbes, the Marvel movie with the highest budget – Avengers: Age of Ultron – cost nearly $500 million to create. It is very possible that Endgame could have cost upwards of $600 million. Not to mention, the risk for Endgame is even further minimized, as it is the end of the story, and that alone augments the hype.

Taking all factors into account – previous expenditures and minimized risks – the budget for Endgame was likely around $550 million. Marvel movies are not cheap, but the risk is low, as the return on investment is virtually guaranteed. Every single Avengers movie has made over $1 billion in worldwide sales, which brings us to our next question. Just how much will Avengers: Endgame make at the box office?

‘Avengers: Endgame’ box office prediction

To predict just how much Avengers: Endgame will make at the box office, we need to know precisely how well the other Avengers films performed first, and estimate from there.

According to Time, the very first Avengers movie grossed a bit over $620 million in the US and slightly over 1.5 billion worldwide, while Avengers: Age of Ultron grossed nearly $460 million in the US and slightly over $1.4 billion worldwide. As for Infinity War, it is the highest grossing Avengers film to date, grossing nearly $680 million in US sales and over $2 billion in worldwide sales.

While the first Avengers performed better than the second one, and the third Avengers performed the best, this is likely because the first film had the “new” factor, and the last one marketed the movie as “the beginning of the end.” Avengers: Endgame will most definitely gross upwards of $2 billion worldwide; however, whether or not the movie will hit the $3 billion mark remains to be seen.

In Avengers: Endgame, the original Avengers are once again the main focus, as most of the others vanished with the “snap,” so there’s a significant degree of emotional appeal there. Furthermore, everyone is waiting to see what happens between the Black Widow and the Hulk, so the fans in it for their romance are coming out in swarms. In the end…it is the end, and that will be this movie’s main selling point, as it has been since the title was announced.
