Bachelor in Paradise is an oasis for finding everlasting love. After heartbreak on their respective seasons of The Bachelor franchise, BIP offers contestants a second shot at romance. And it works…sometimes. While some couples have settled into long-term relationships after the show, not everyone goes the distance. Though the series has seen a number of messy fights and breakups, there are some that stand out as particularly dramatic.

Lacy Faddoul and Marcus Grodd from ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Season 1

The first season of BIP ended in an engagement between Marcus Grodd, a contestant on Ally Larter’s season of The Bachelorette, and Lacy Faddoul, a contestant on Juan Pablo Galavis’s season of The Bachelor. The couple tied the knot in a televised ceremony during the BIP Season 2 premiere.

As it turns out, however, the pair was never legally married. In order to make their marriage official, they had to fill out paperwork upon their return to the US. In an interview with Life & Style, Grodd revealed that Faddoul cut off contact with him before they could complete the process.

“It feels like she’s a runaway bride,” he said. “We had this fantastic relationship, and then it totally vanished. It was like she ran away.”

Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone from season 5

After a whirlwind romance on season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise, Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone wed in a ceremony officiated by then-host Chris Harrison. Just eight months later, on Valentine’s Day, the couple announced their split in a joint statement to Bachelor Nation.

“It hurts to announce that at this moment, we have mutually decided to separate,” they wrote. “Never did we imagine this scenario, but we’ve come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves.”

While the couple did not share the reason for their divorce, Randone revealed that they have not kept in touch.

“We don’t talk at all,” Randone said to Blake Horstmann. “This is nothing against her, but even throughout this entire time, she never even called me once to see how I’ve been doing, how I’m feeling.”

Soon after, Nielson announced that she was expecting her first child with her new partner, Miles Bowles.

Jenna Cooper and Jordan Kimball from ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Season 5

Another season 5 couple, Jenna Cooper and Jordan Kimball’s relationship came to a dramatic end shortly before their engagement episode aired. Blogger Reality Steve published screenshots of flirtatious text messages allegedly sent by Cooper to another man.

The screenshots included messages where Cooper appeared to say that she was only in the relationship with Kimball to further her career. While Cooper was quick to deny these allegations, Kimball ended the relationship.

“It felt like a body drop,” he told People. “I got taken down. I’m weak in the knees and I feel like I have rocks in my stomach.”

Later, however, a team of forensic investigators concluded that the texts did not come from Cooper’s phone. Despite this revelation, the pair have not reunited. Kimball returned to BIP for season 6 and Cooper welcomed a daughter with her fiancé, Karl Hudson.
