Bachelor in Paradise is a challenging game to play. But is it easier for some stars? Chelsea Vaughn talked about how podcast hosts are treated differently.

Blake Horstmann warned people doing ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ to beware of podcasters

Alums of the show do Bachelor in Paradise in hopes of finding love. But it’s not a fair game. Cast members who start the season have an advantage, while newer stars compete against existing connections sometimes. But Blake Horstmann, who was on season 6, warned future stars of Bachelor podcast hosts cast for the show.

“The only advice I gave them was to be careful of the official Bachelor podcast hosts if they are down there. They are ABC employees and will always get a good edit,” he claimed in an Instagram Story, according to Us Weekly. “So don’t go against them or date someone they have their eyes on. I think they should not allow these people on the beach after last season (and i love all those people that went down there) but it’s a huge slap in the face [for] the audience. Like, they think we are that dumb?”

Natasha Parker, Joe Amabile, and Becca Kufrin were cast in season 7 and also have official podcasts. Amabile banded with other cast members after Brendan Morais snubbed Parker for Pieper James to get them off the beach.

Vaughn was a guest on the Game of Roses podcast. She talked about her time on season 7, where multiple podcast hosts linked to the franchise were also on the beach.

Vaughn was asked if having podcast hosts on the beach affected the dynamics of the season. “I didn’t think about it when I first got there because I just feel like maybe if I had come in day one, it would have been more apparent,” she answered.

She noted that she came in after the whole Pieper and Natasha drama. “It was just clear that some people were favored and other people weren’t. That’s how I felt about it,” the model said. “Like that’s when I realized, ‘Oh, we’re playing different games [laughs],'” she added.

Vaughn explained how these differences played out. “They had to go get like separate time away to go film the podcasts and stuff,” she said. “So they got their electronics at some times, and they were all like just very close with the producers.”

Of course, some of the podcast hosts deny getting special treatment. Parker responded to Horstmann in her own story.

“I do not agree with what Blake said because my situation, specifically — and yes, I am sensitive about it because it happened to me — so by saying that I’m going to get a good edit because I have a podcast, ‘Click Bait,’ you could get a bad edit if you mess with me and to be careful of me … you’re basically villainizing me because I have a podcast instead of holding the toxic people accountable,” she claimed. “That’s where I have a problem. No, if you’re taking what Blake is saying and you’re rallying behind it, you’re basically excusing toxic behavior.”

Bachelor in Paradise is returning for season 8. Fans will have to wait to see if podcast hosts will be cast again and how that’ll affect things.
