Katie and Greg’s Hometown date didn’t end as we expected in The Bachelorette Season 17 Week 9. After meeting Greg’s family, Katie reconnected with her contestant alone. The frontrunner revealed that he was in love with the lead. But then Katie replied, “I just love looking at you.”

Greg was frustrated with Katie’s response, suggesting that the bachelorette wasn’t being real with him. Then things started to spiral. Katie tried to reassure her contestant. However, it seemed like Greg lost trust in the lead.

Finally, Katie asked Greg whether he wanted to end the relationship. Then Greg sent himself home.

“I deserve more than what I’ve been given from your side,” Greg said. “I’m not happy here anymore. I’m done here.”

Kaitlyn Bristowe hints Greg Grippo and Katie Thurston will not get back together in ‘The Bachelorette’ finale

When Greg left Katie’s season of The Bachelorette, the unexpected departure made some fans wonder whether the door was still open. The couple had a strong start to their relationship. So a few fans predicted that Greg and Katie would get back together in the finale or “After the Final Rose” reunion special.

However, it seems Kaitlyn might have already debunked the theory about Katie and Greg ahead of The Bachelorette finale on Aug. 9. In the Aug. 5 episode of Click Bait, Kaitlyn claimed she checked in with Katie that morning, and the host revealed how the current lead really felt about the split.

At first, Kaitlyn shared that Katie recognized that she “could’ve done more” during the breakup. But ultimately, the situation made Katie realize that she wasn’t meant to be with Greg.

“[Katie] realizes in that moment, she could’ve done more,” Kaitlyn said. “And I think she’s more like, ‘Wow, I’m glad that happened there, and I could realize that he wasn’t my person.’ I think she’s finding some closure and comfort from watching it back.”

For now, it seems like Katie and Greg’s reunion during The Bachelorette Season 17 “After the Final Rose” doesn’t lead to a reconciliation. So what will happen when the exes get together in the Aug. 9 episode? According to ABC, Greg and Katie will experience a “tense confrontation” about the sudden exit in the last episode.

Meanwhile, co-host Tayshia Adams recently stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest and teased what to expect from Greg when he returns to The Bachelor franchise. The former bachelorette was asked about Greg’s job, as he appeared on the show saying he was a marketing sales representative. But at the start of the season, rumors spread claiming that he attended William Esper Acting School in New York. Now, Tayshia has hinted that Greg will address his alleged career aspirations and whether he was really there for the “right reasons.”

“That will be addressed,” Tayshia said. “So just wait.”
