The Bachelorette’s Hannah Brown has been through a lot since she was first introduced to Bachelor Nation many moons ago. After getting her heart broken by Colton Underwood, Brown became the next bachelorette. Then at the end of her season, Brown thought she would receive her happily ever after with Jed Wyatt. However, the relationship crumbled before The Bachelorette Season 16 finished airing on ABC. But even so, Brown turned it around and became the champion of Dancing With the Stars Season 28 alongside her partner, Alan Bersten.

Now it seems Brown is doing just fine. The 25-year-old recently opened up about her single life and shared she’s open to dating again — outside of The Bachelor franchise. Then on May 11, Brown shared an Instagram post reflecting on her engagement with Wyatt on The Bachelorette. And basically, it’ll make any fan emotional if they’ve been following Brown’s journey since the very beginning.

What happened to Hannah Brown and Jed Wyatt on ‘The Bachelorette’?

Throughout The Bachelorette Season 15, Brown saw a spark with Wyatt. He charmed his way into her heart with his guitar. Seriously, he even wrote her a song called “Mr. Right.” But even so, the singer-songwriter seemed to connect with Brown.

In the finale, Brown had to make a choice between Wyatt and Tyler Cameron. The bachelorette was filled with uncertainty for some time. But in the end, she chose Wyatt and the couple got engaged.

Nevertheless, some drama came up even before After the Final Rose. After filming the finale, Brown found out Wyatt had a girlfriend waiting at home while he went on The Bachelorette

“He didn’t really end the relationship before he came here,” Brown said at the time. “The extent of what was withheld from me after I’ve already said ‘yes’ is not OK. Jed has muddied the waters of our future together and it’s not what I thought I said ‘yes’ to.”

Then Brown ended her engagement with Wyatt. But in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brown shared she still found love — just not how she expected.

“Nobody wanted this to happen,” Brown said in July 2019. “This was not the love story that anybody anticipated for me, but I still learned a lot about myself and found love for who I am completely.”

On May 11, Brown reflected on her Bachelorette journey one year after her engagement to Wyatt. In the Instagram post, Brown opened up about her inner thoughts, revealing she subconsciously knew her final pick was the wrong choice.

“Ever look back on a memory and it feels like just yesterday… but also like a different life? Me too. Exactly a year ago today,” Brown wrote on Instagram. “I remember that day. I don’t like staying there for too long, but I remember it really well. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, this has all the makings to be the best day of my life…but gah, it doesn’t feel like I thought it would.’”

She continued: “I didn’t have words (or maybe I just didn’t have the courage to say them?) but the pit in my stomach was screaming, ‘this ain’t it’ (funny how sometimes it’s the people around you that help you articulate your feelings better than you can). I could fake a smile but I couldn’t shake the doubt, and looking back, I know why.”

That said, Brown acknowledged she is doing much better now, a year after The Bachelorette. “That ending was not easy,” Brown wrote. “But it was necessary to get me here.” Then The Bachelorette alum gave a piece of advice to her former self.

Brown wrote, “If I could go back and tell her something, I would whisper, ‘It’s going to be OK. You’re right, this ain’t it, but it‘s the direction. So open up your hands, and let go of the control. Trust this process, it’s going to be worth it. Also, nice butt!’”

She also shared some words of wisdom with her followers who may be feeling something similar. Brown wrote:

If you are reading this right now, wondering how to navigate a situation that feels so painful and so not what you wanted, maybe you’ll let me tell you what I would’ve told myself: Hold on. Keep moving. You’re going to make it. This ain’t it but what’s coming is so much better.⁣

Sometimes you’ve gotta walk through the shadows to stand in the sun. And trust me, you’ll really appreciate the way it feels shining down on you, too.

Although things didn’t work out with Wyatt, Brown was able to channel the pain from her Bachelorette experience into something positive. And in all honesty, that’s beautiful. So here’s to Alabama Hannah’s next journey.
