The Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew did not wait until after the first charter to get drunk. Instead, they go so hard the night before the guests’ arrival, deckhand Tom Pearson gets sick.

Making matters worse, Pearson is Captain Glenn Shephard’s bunkmate. He manages to not only alert Shephard to his drunkenness, but he also vomits all over their shared bathroom. How does Shephard react?

Colin MacRae sees the writing on the wall

Most Below Deck crews scramble to prepare the boat for the first charter. However, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 crew seems to be so ahead of the game, they get hammered the night before charter. “Tom reminds me of myself when I was that age,” chief engineer Colin MacRae says in a confessional. Cameras show Pearson rolling around on the ground with a beer.

“Just super keen to have a good time, not really thinking about the consequences, and taking things a little bit too far,” he continued. Back on deck, Pearson wonders why he’s spilling his drink all over the deck.

“We haven’t even started our charter season yet …,” MacRae laughs in a confessional. “Holy s***.

Tom gets sick – does he make it to the bathroom?

Everyone is drinking, but the booze seems to hit Pearson a lot harder. After about four hours of drinking a few Below Deck crew members go to bed. That’s when Pearson realizes he went a little too far. Shephard is still awake when Pearson hits his bunk but only stays there for a few minutes.

“Captain, I don’t feel so well,” Pearson says to Shephard. Shephard wants to know what he means that he “doesn’t feel well” (but can obviously tell the deckhand had too much to drink). Pearson stumbles from his bunk and races to the bathroom. “Bit embarrassing, but f*** it,” Pearson says to Shephard on his way to the bathroom.

Some of the crew remained on deck, continuing to party and dishing that Pearson is the one who spilled the most on deck.

Pearson is heard vomiting. Shephard asks him if he is OK once Pearson returns to the room. “I’m not gonna lie Captain … no I don’t feel so well,” Pearson says. Pearson grabs his pillow and blanket and decides to sleep in the crew mess, worried about not having fast access to the bathroom.

With Pearson so sick he has to sleep in the crew mess, Shephard breaks up the party on deck. Only Gabriela Barragan, Daisy Kelliher, MacRae, and Gary King are still awake and drinking. “Tom is man down,” Shephard tells the crew and breaks up their party.

“I don’t wanna be the buzzkill,” Shephard says in a confessional. “But I need to make the point to you don’t do what you just did. We’re picking up guests tomorrow, get your a**es to bed.”

And while Shephard remains pretty cool about the situation, he busts on Pearson the next day. The crew has some fun with him too and they tell him he got sick on Shephard. “You were in the bathroom,” Shephard confirms to Pearson.

“This is f***ing embarrassing,” Pearson says in a confessional. “I’ve already made myself look like an idiot. All I can do now is try to move forward and apologize to him and let my work do the talking.”

Shephard accepts Pearson’s apology but tells him, “You need to go back in there and have a really good tidy,” Shephard says about the bathroom. “Maybe a steam clean.”

Shephard adds in a confessional that while Pearson understands that he made a mistake that’s “strike one” and “let’s see what he can do now.”

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is on Monday at 8 ET on Bravo.
