‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’: Daisy Kelliher Reveals Why Captain Glenn Didn’t Slam the Crew for Drunk Swimming

Daisy Kelliher from Below Deck Sailing Yacht says she has a pretty good idea why Captain Glenn Shephard didn’t fire or at least admonish the three drunk crew members who jumped into the ocean in the middle of the night.

Many fans wondered why Shephard didn’t at least reprimand the crew, especially after witnessing Captain Lee Rosbach tear into a charter guest who essentially did the same thing on Below Deck. But Kelliher said the vibe is completely different on a sailing yacht, even when it comes to moments surrounding drunk crew members.

Daisy Kelliher thinks Captain Glenn handled the situation well

Kelliher joined stews Alli Dore and Dani Soares on Instagram to answer fan questions, which is when she addressed the issue. “Glenn is the kind of captain I’m used to working for,” Kelliher said. “Probably not so much Dani because she comes from motorboats. But of course, it’s a massive issue. But at the end of the day, what are you gonna do? You can’t fire everybody for every little thing.”

“We were a strong team,” she continued. “And I think Glenn recognized that. So you kind of have to pick your battles. And I think that’s what Glenn does. It is more relaxed than other boats. Sailing boats, that’s the kind of people that run them, that’s the kind of people that we have on. And it’s the kind of crew that we have.”

“So, I totally respect Glenn’s decision,” she added. “No one was in danger. It was some harmless fun and sometimes rules are meant to be bent.”

Shephard was seen in his bunk hearing the noise from upstairs, but he rolled over and went back to sleep. The next day he didn’t say anything to the crew, but he expected them to immediately get to work. They did and there was no incident as far as work was concerned.

Rules like crew sleeping in a guest cabin are different too

Viewers were also surprised when two crew members treated themselves to a night in a guest cabin in between charters. The same behavior put two crew members on notice during Below Deck. But, Kelliher, again told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, she wasn’t going to sweat it as long as the room wasn’t clean.

She also said that she and Below Deck chief stew Francesca Rubi had different pet peeves. “For me, it was like, pick your battles. I mean, people have their thing, and that’s Francesca’s thing,” she said. “And on most boats that absolutely is a rule. And it’s very much frowned upon. But it actually happens.”

“I mean, what are you gonna do?” she continued. “You’re putting men and women on a boat, they’re gonna find somewhere to go hookup.”

Kelliher was seen getting annoyed that the crew used a guest bathroom after it had been cleaned. “I don’t mind if they use the guest toilet, it’s just they had used it after we had detailed it,” she explained. “That was the issue. So if they had used the guest cabin after we had made it up, then I would have been really upset. But it wasn’t made up, we hadn’t been in there.”
