On Day 4 in the Big Brother 22 house, Dani Donato Briones and Cody Calafiore looked for an empty room to talk game in. When they passed Da’Vonne Rogers doing her hair, Dani commented on the three-time competitor’s “weave,” which upset fans who consider the remark racially insensitive.

Dani Donato Briones returned for ‘Big Brother 22: All-Stars’

In 2007, Daniele “Dani” Donato competed in Big Brother 8 alongside her father, “Evel” Dick, as part of the rivals twist. Although the two hadn’t spoken for a few years before entering the house, they worked well together.

She established herself as a competition beast, winning several Head of Household and Power of Veto competitions which helped her and her father get to the final two seats.

Even though Evel Dick terrorized his fellow houseguests, they felt he played the better game and awarded him the win. She came back for BB13, again with her estranged father, as part of the Veteran’s Alliance.

However, he quickly left the season due to health issues. Dani teamed up with two new players, Porsche Briggs and Kalia Booker, but ended up becoming the second Jury member.

She met her now-husband Dominic Briones on the season and has spent the past nine years building a family with him. The strong competitor returned for BB22: All-Stars with the hopes of finally winning the title.

Dani Donato Briones aligned with Nicole Franzel and Cody Calafiore

Almost immediately after the returning houseguests competed in their first Head of Household competition, Dani began talking game. The 33-year-old stay-at-home mom spoke with Nicole Franzel about who she wanted to work with and admitted Nicole Anthony made her nervous because she “ghosted” the BB21 finalist’s podcast.

She has also had several conversations with current HOH Cody Calafiore, who seemingly trusts her. They have talked about aligning with each other and Nicole F. while bringing in others, including Da’Vonne Rogers, Bayleigh Dayton, Memphis Garrett, and Tyler Crispen.

The two have also spoken about working with Christmas Abbott and Kevin Campbell but haven’t finalized anything.

Dani Donato Briones slammed over ‘weave’ comment to Da’Vonne Rogers

As the houseguests sat around trying to find something to do or talk about before the first Power of Veto competition started, Da’Vonne did her hair alone in the Comic Bedroom.

After speaking with Nicole F. about the possibility of working with Janelle Pierzina, the stay-at-home wanted to fill Cody in on the conversation and current state of their alliances.

While looking for an empty room, Dani saw the three-time competitor doing her hair and stated, “Da’Vonne and her weave are right there.” The fan-favorite corrected her, responding, “This is my real hair, this is my wig,” and all three laughed.

On the other hand, viewers did not find the comment funny and began calling her “racist” online as they felt she assumed Da’Vonne had a weave in her hair.

Others believe Dani made the remark because the false hair was next to the three-time competitor, not implying she already had it in. Additionally, some think Dani tried to joke and isn’t racist because she’s vocalized a pro-Black Lives Matter stance. However, others still felt like it was “wrong” and a microaggression.

Big Brother 22: All-Stars airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays on CBS.
