[SPOILER ALERT: Spoilers ahead for Big Brother 23 Week 5.]

The undetected Cookout alliance has the highest probability of making it to the end of the game than any other remaining in the game. However, it might be in jeopardy following a tense interaction.

Christian Birkenberger thought he only needed Azah Awasum’s vote to stay

Following Britni D’Angelo winning the Power of Veto, Head of Household Derek Xiao executed his backdoor plan by placing his biggest competition threat, Christian Birkenberger, on the block.

Almost immediately after the ceremony, former Joker teammates Derek Frazier and Britni, with whom he also has final two agreements, promised him their vote.

Believing his former King members Alyssa Lopez and Xavier Prather and final four allies Queens’ Tiffany Mitchell and Claire Rehfuss would vote for him, he initially thought he had the numbers to stay.

However, Tiffany and Claire wouldn’t give him a definitive answer, so Christian thought he only needed Azah’s vote. Not wanting to be viewed as the swing votes, Tiffany spoke to the former Joker teammates and claimed they needed to tell Christian they didn’t intend on voting for him to stay in the house.

Tiffany Mitchell wanted the former Jokers to come clean about where they would vote

She approached the trio and told Britni that she would tell Christian the POV winner she isn’t voting for him because she didn’t want the likely next evicted houseguest believing he only needed her and Claire’s vote.

When Azah felt the demand put Britni “in a tough position,” Tiffany countered that she’s also in one because they have told Christian they would vote for him.

After Britni claimed she would tell him on eviction day, Derek F. entered the room, and Tiffany explained the situation to him. He sided with Britni, noting that any of them could tell Christian whatever, similar to how they can tell him he’s safe.

Tiffany thought Britni should admit she’s changed her mind, but the former Joker didn’t want to be bothered at the time as she’s felt “cornered” all day. However, she said she would prefer to tell Christan about the vote rather than Tiffany. The conversation got heated before Azah suggested they sleep on the situation and revisit it the next day.

Derek Frazier and Azah begin to turn on Tiffany

Following the exchange, Derek F. took time to calm himself down, and they went to bed. He later told Azah he thought Tiffany wanted to cover herself to stay on the right side of the votes depending on who remained by the end of the week and who became the next HOH.

They both expressed their annoyance at how Tiffany approached them as Derek F. felt she tried to manipulate them, and Azah thought she “bullied” Britni.

Additionally, they didn’t appreciate how she referred to them as “liars.” The two noted they still planned to work with Tiffany in the Cookout alliance until the final six but planned to take their shot at her the first chance they got.

Before the heated exchange, Tiffany and Xavier met and thought they should take Kyland out when it came down to the six, deeming him as one of the most untrustworthy. Big Brother 23 airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays on CBS.
