Jackson Michie and Holly Allen broke up after a year of dating

Last summer, Jackson Michie and Holly Allen met during Big Brother 21 and started a showmance in the house.

They made it to the final two, where Michie won over his girlfriend in a 6-3 vote, and the two continued their relationship in the real world.

The couple moved into a Los Angeles apartment a few months later and quarantined together during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it started off well and they adopted a dog, the two ultimately decided to call it quits a couple of months later.

They announced their breakup on their Instagram accounts in June 2020, citing “different directions” as the reason for their separation.

Allen admitted she felt blindsided by the breakup

A month later, Allen appeared on The Publyssity Podcast and explained Michie wanted them to announce their separation before she was “comfortable” with it.

Additionally, she visited her parents’ house to help her mom and didn’t want to go back to the apartment to retrieve her things because Michie’s friends, Big Brother stars Brett Robinson and Jack Matthews, were hanging out there.

Therefore, the BB21 runner-up had to stay at several friends’ houses before retrieving her things and finding a new place to live. Allen admitted she felt “hurt” by her ex’s actions but refused to speak ill of him.

While the runner-up stated there “wasn’t really a reason” for the breakup, she noted it might’ve been due to how heavily the two relied on each other following their Big Brother experience.

Michie apologized for hurting Allen

On the other hand, Michie has remained relatively silent about the split. He recently began opening up about his struggles through social media and addressed the breakup in a Nov. 5 Instagram Story video.

The BB21 champ pointed out that the two dated during unique circumstances as they spent nearly 100 days together in the Big Brother house before being quarantined during the pandemic.

He acknowledged that he wasn’t “the man I wanted to be nor should be” for Allen. Therefore, Michie said he “had to make the hardest decision” and leave the relationship so they could both grow independently. He also admitted his “poor communication” played a huge part in the split and denied cheating rumors.

The BB21 champ posted another video and captioned it, “I’ve said it to you in private. But here’s how I feel publicly. I’m sorry for the pain I’ve caused,” and tagged Allen. He became emotional while apologizing for hurting his ex but noted he believes they’ll both become “better” people due to the split.
