The eyes of almost everyone are on Amber Heard as her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, sues her for defamation of character. Heard’s legal team has consistently blundered their defense, and social media continues to laugh and scratch their heads at their strategies. Now, comedian and actor Bill Burr has spoken out in defense of Depp and hopes he gets a public apology if Depp should win the trial.

Bill Burr railed against Amber Heard in his ‘Monday Morning Podcast’

When it comes to Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard, it seems as though no one is on the fence regarding who they’re rooting for in the trial. Burr lands firmly on Team Johnny and said as much in the May 2, 2022, episode of his Monday Morning Podcast. A fan wrote to Burr’s show regarding how much they enjoy watching the trial and mentioned how satisfying it is to watch someone get caught in a lie.

“I’m too big a Johnny Depp fan to watch [the trial]. I love that guy and I just — I don’t want to hear all these personal details and shit,” Burr said. “From what I’ve seen the guy is f***ing destroying. And what’s great about this, is if he really does expose this woman for lying. I’m wondering if all these people that, you know, just accepted her lies about him if they’re going to apologize somehow.”

Burr also noted that people have “publicly trashed” Depp and said, “it’d be nice if they publicly apologized and said, ‘Maybe next time we won’t jump to conclusions.'”

Other celebrities like Howard Stern have publicly spoken out against Depp in the trial. Stern criticized Depp’s “overacting” on the stand. Actor Drew Barrymore recently issued an apology for “making light” of Depp’s defamation case.

Barrymore said, “It’s like one layer of crazy, it’s a seven-layer dip of insanity. I know that these are two people’s real lives and I know what it’s like to have your life put out in public. I understand all the feelings, but they are actually offering up this information that nobody had to know. This is crazy!”

Bill Burr says Amber Heard’s claims potentially ‘hurting’ other ‘women’s groups’

The Mandalorian actor expressed his dismay at how many people seemed to “accept” Heard’s statements without checking into their legitimacy.

“It really does amaze me how the pendulum just does not seem to swing the other way,” Burr added. “All of these women’s groups that when they see a woman that lies like this, which really hurts their position, because there are women out there that are in a relationship that this woman evidently lied and claimed that she was in. And for someone to go out and lie about it, it hurts the people that are actually in it! You would think they would cover this.”
