Blake Horstmann and Caelynn Miller-Keyes were involved in some major drama in the sixth season of Bachelor in Paradise. Miller-Keyes accused Horstmann of making her feel like a “dirty secret,” and Horstmann accused his co-star of attempting to drag his reputation through the mud. A fan recently asked The Bachelorette alum if Miller-Keyes ever apologized and he shared his thoughts on what happened between them and how he thinks of her now.

The Blake and Caelynn drama on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’

After Miller-Keyes arrived in Mexico, she made it clear that she and Horstmann had some type of relationship prior to filming that summer. She said they spoke regularly and even considered officially getting together and skipping out on Paradise. But when Miller-Keyes hit the beach she felt Horstmann hardly acknowledged her.

When the episodes aired that shared Miller-Keyes’ thoughts on the situation, Horstmann took to Instagram to share his side and also to share a text conversation he’d had with Miller-Keyes. Needless to say, things turned ugly in real-time pretty quickly.

“Caelynn and I were NEVER in a relationship,” Horstmann posted on Instagram. “I NEVER ghosted Caelynn, I NEVER called her a mistake and I absolutely NEVER EVER EVER silenced Caelynn. I never expected to have to do something like this, but after finally seeing the episodes I feel like I have no other choice but to release the text exchanges between her and myself.”

A day later, Miller-Keyes posted her side of the story.

“The reality of the situation is that Blake was not a one night stand at a music festival and the ‪5 am‬ text exchange that Blake chose to share is not an accurate representation of our past relationship,” the reality star wrote on Instagram. “I take ownership for what I said on the beach. I was upset and I let my emotions control my words. However, I did not go on a show to ruin someone’s character. I attempted to address my feelings and the situation with Blake face to face. It’s unfortunate that I didn’t get the same respect in return, and I am absolutely mortified our private texts were put out there for the world to see and judge by someone who I trusted and consider a friend nonetheless.”

What Blake thinks of the ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ drama with Caelynn today

Horstmann and Miller-Keyes’ season of Bachelor in Paradise aired a year ago. There’s definitely been ample time for the dust to settle and both parties to reflect on what happened.

Horstmann did a Q&A with his Instagram following on Aug. 18, and one fan asked if Miller-Keyes ever apologized.

“No,” he responded. “I used to think an apology from certain people would make me happier or I could move on, but if you are depending on others to make yourself happy you will never be truly happy.”

“What Caelynn did was sh*tty, but she isn’t a sh*tty person. I have done sh*tty things and I’m not a sh*tty person,” Horstmann continued.

Furthermore, Horstmann knows a thing or two about the stress BIP contestants are under while filming, and how that stress can affect one’s behavior.

“No one is perfect especially in front of cameras with lack of sleep, alcohol, and while being lied to and manipulated,” he wrote.

The reality star went on to urge his following to refrain from judging Bachelor contestants just by what they see on TV.

“Trust me your fav BN person is not nearly as good a person as you think and the person you hate most isn’t nearly as bad as you think,” he wrote. “Everyone is somewhere in between… JUST LIKE YOU.”
