On March 9, Rosé of BLACKPINK released a music video teaser for her upcoming single “On The Ground.” The BLACKPINK singer plans to make her solo debut on March 12 with her single album R. The single album will include two songs, “On The Ground” and “Gone.” With the single album, Rosé will be the second member of the K-pop group to have a solo debut.

Rosé released two teasers for the music video on BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel

The BLACKPINK singer released the first teaser for “On The Ground” on March 8. In the 15-second teaser, Rosé sits in the back of a car while wearing a purple gown.

She stares out the window while curled up in the backseat, and guitar strums begin to play. Rosé then looks into the camera, and a voiceover of her singing the lyrics “on the ground” is heard.

On March 9, a new trailer for “On The Ground” was released. The second music video teaser is 17 seconds long and opens in black and white with Rosé standing on the steps of a movie theater.

The teaser changes from black and white to color and a few alternating shots of Rosé standing in front of the theater are shown.

“Everything I need is on the ground,” Rosé sings in a voiceover before the teaser ends.

Rosé will make her solo debut on March 12

BLACKPINK debuted in 2016 and has four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. Jennie became the first BLACKPINK member to make her solo debut, and she released the single “Solo” in 2018.

In December 2020, YG Entertainment confirmed Rosé and Lisa would make their solo debuts next while Jisoo planned to star in the TV series Snowdrop.

“Rosé and Lisa are preparing for their solo debuts. Currently, they are getting ready to film their music videos. As for Jisoo, she is busy shooting Snowdrop (tentative title), so Rosé and Lisa will make their solo debuts first,” YG Entertainment said in a statement according to Soompi.

On March 1, Rosé announced her solo project would be released on March 12 with the release of two promotional posters. One teaser image shows Rosé in the purple dress from the “On The Ground” teaser.

The second teaser poster displays Rosé wearing a red dress as she walks through smoke. In the background, the phrases “No Way Out” and “You Are Now” can be seen.

BLACKPINK fans have already heard ‘Gone’

While BLINKs have only heard snippets of “On The Ground” in the two teaser trailers, Rosé already gave fans a preview of the song “Gone.”

On Jan. 25, Rosé released a trailer for her single album. The teaser featured the song “Gone.” At the start of the trailer, Rosé sits in a dimly-lit bathroom with candles.
