BMF is Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s latest venture with Starz network. The drama series has nothing to do with the Power Universe but instead chronicles the lives of two of the most polarizing figures in hip-hop. BMF has been a long time coming for 50 Cent and will be a major departure from the characters that we know and love on Power.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new series, including when it will air on Starz.

What will ‘BMF’ be about?

BMF takes place in Detroit in the 1980s and chronicles the real-life story of the Flenory brothers, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory. Big Meech’s real son, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. portrays him in the show. Meanwhile, All-American actor Da’Vinchi portrays Terry. The official Starz press release for the upcoming series reads,

BMF” is inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in this country. Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory’s charismatic leadership, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s business acumen and the fraternal partnership’s vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip-hop would render the brothers iconic on a global level. Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the cornerstone of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement. This is a story about love, kinship and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.

In addition to Flenory Jr. and Da’Vinchi, the cast includes Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, Ajiona Alexus, Eric Kofi Abrefa, Myles Truitt, Steve Harris, Arkeisha “Kash Doll” Knight, Serayah, Wood Harris, and La La Anthony.

What Does 50 Cent’s New Starz Show ‘BMF’ Stand For?

Has ‘BMF’ been renewed for season 2?

While Starz quickly renews the shows in the Power Universe since they already have such a massive built-in audience, BMF is different. Though the series has 50 Cent backing it as executive producer and the series is a passion project for him, Starz is waiting to see if it can pull Power numbers. At present, BMF has not been renewed for season 2.

However, with the realism, authenticity, and the younger Fleorney portraying his father, 50 Cent seems confident. “BMF is really better then POWER I watched it and was buggin,” he tweeted. “I can’t wait for you to see this.”

Starz will probably make a decision about a possible second season of BMF in the coming weeks.
