‘Bosch: Legacy’ premieres May 6

The Bosch spinoff series — which is titled Bosch: Legacy — premieres May 6 on IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming service. There will be 10 episodes, but they won’t all stream at once. Episodes 1-4 will debut first. Two additional episodes will drop each Friday through May 27, Connelly tweeted

Several original Bosch cast members will return, including Titus Welliver as the title character Harry Bosch, Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch, and Mimi Rogers as Honey Chandler. New cast members include Denise G. Sanchez as police officer Reina Vasquez and Stephen A. Change as Maurice “Mo” Bassi, a tech whiz who teams up with Harry.

‘Bosch’ spinoff draws on one of Connelly’s books, but also has new storylines

Bosch: Legacy will pick up after the events of the Bosch series finale, which debuted in June 2021 on Prime Video.

“[Bosch: Legacy] Season 1 continues some plot lines from season 7 of Bosch, uses some plot elements from The Wrong Side of Goodbye (2016) novel, and has new storylines,” Connelly wrote.

The final season of Bosch ended with Harry, an LAPD detective, quitting the force and taking steps to set up shop as a private investigator. Meanwhile, his daughter Maddie decided to pursue a career as a police officer. Lawyer Honey Chandler — who spent much of Bosch Season 7 recovering in the hospital after a near-fatal shooting — will also be back. In a teaser for the new show, the defense attorney seeks out Harry’s help with a case, though he initially rebuffs her.

A synopsis from IMDb TV offers more details about what to expect from the next chapter in Harry Bosch’s story. Now working as a private investigator, Harry’s first job sees him called to the estate of sickly billionaire Whitney Vance (William Devane). Per the description:

Bosch is tasked with finding Vance’s only potential heir. Along the way, Bosch finds himself clashing with powerful figures who have a vested interest in the heir not being found. Researching the family tree, he uncovers shocking revelations that span generations, all while billions of dollars remain on the line. Without the badge and a preference for old-school tactics, Bosch finds an invaluable resource in Maurice “Mo” Bassi, a tech-forward gadget whiz who also shares Bosch’s fondness for smooth jazz and commitment to justice.

Meanwhile, Maddie is a newly-minted LAPD patrol officer paired with no-nonsense training officer Reina Vasquez. As she works the streets of L.A., Maddie, who hopes to follow in her dad’s footsteps, has to decide what kind of cop she wants to be.
