Brittany Cartwright isn’t pregnant — yet. She and Jax Taylor have put their baby plans on hold for the time being, they explained during the Jan. 7 episode of Watch What Happens Live. And it’s all because of their Vanderpump Rules costars.

Addressing those pregnancy rumors

Cartwright, 30, and Taylor, 40, married in June 2019 in her home state of Kentucky. Not long after the wedding, the pregnancy rumors started. But the former SURver was quick to clarify that she wasn’t expecting.

“I’m not pregnant yet, I’ll say it again,” she told HollywoodLife in September. The reality TV star blamed her post-wedding weight gain for fueling the speculation. She explained that she worked hard to slim down before the big day, and that some of those pounds came back after she and Taylor said “I do.”

“[A]fter the wedding you might gain some, and then all of a sudden you’re pregnant,” she said. “Which I know people are stoked, super excited for if we do become pregnant. I am too. But sometimes you just gain weight.”

“I want babies,” says Brittany Cartwright

While Cartwright has made it clear she’s not pregnant, that didn’t stop a WWHL caller from asking about her and Jax’s plans to start a family. She and her hubby explained that although they’re eager to have a baby, some other commitments are getting in the way.

“Let’s clarify what’s going on right now with our baby-makings. Let’s get this out there. We went and started one month, and then Stassi [Schroeder] and Lala [Kent]’s weddings [are coming up], and we’re in [them],” said Taylor.

“OK, [the] short version is that we’re trying to make sure that we can make it to Italy for Stassi and Beau [Clark]’s wedding and I’m not stuck back home because I’m too pregnant. So we’re trying to plan it out,” Cartwright added. “But yes, babies! I want babies.”

After host Andy Cohen told the couple not to let other people’s weddings interfere with their baby-making plans, Cartwright explained that she wouldn’t mind being pregnant at the event. But, she said, “I don’t want to be so pregnant I’m stuck like Phoebe on Friends and can’t go to her best friend’s wedding.”

Cartwright says she ‘can’t wait’ to be a mom

Cartwright and Taylor have made no secret of their desire to become parents.

“We cannot wait to start a family,” Cartwright told People shortly after the couple’s wedding. “I cannot wait to be a mom, and Jax cannot wait to be a dad. He talks about it all the time. I think he’s getting more excited than I am even, which I never thought would be possible.”

Taylor told the magazine he’s looking forward to being a hands-on dad.

“I want to be the coach,” he said. “I want to be in the PTA. I want to be a soccer dad, a gymnastics dad, whatever it is. I just want to be part of it all. I’m working hard right now to build up a good future.”
