On Oct. 12, Billboard announced the updated Hot 100 chart, and BTS are occupying the top two spots. Coming in at No. 1 was Jawsh 685, Jason Derulo and BTS’ “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat),” and BTS’ song “Dynamite” ranked at No. 2 on the chart. With the two songs, BTS became the first group to have songs in the top two spots simultaneously since 2009.

BTS were on a remix of ‘Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)

The original version of the song by Jawsh 685 was called “Laxed (Siren Beat).” On May 11, Derulo teased the song “Savage Love” using the sample of “Laxed (Siren Beat)” without properly crediting it. The two worked the situation out, and released “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” on June 11 with Jawsh 685 being credited as an artist and co-writer.

The song debuted at No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 27, and climbed into the top 10 spots in August. A remix featuring BTS was released on Oct. 2, and the remix primarily features members Jungkook, Suga, and J-Hope.

The Korean band now has two top 10 hits

On Oct. 12, Billboard announced the newest Billboard Hot 100 chart that is dated for Oct. 17. The BTS remix of “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” ranked at No. 1, becoming BTS and Jason Derulo’s second No. 1 hit and Jawsh 685’s first No. 1.

“Two BTS remixes (a vocal and an instrumental version) of ‘Savage Love’ were released at midnight ET Oct. 2. With almost all of the song’s overall airplay favoring the Jawsh 685/Derulo version, the bulk of its overall sales owed to the BTS remixes and the song’s overall streams split more evenly among the versions with and without BTS in the tracking week, its overall activity in that span favored the Jawsh 685/Derulo/BTS versions, so BTS is now officially listed on the Hot 100 as a billed act on the song for the first time,” Billboard reports.

The K-pop group also became the first group “to double up in the top two simultaneously since The Black Eyed Peas did so for four weeks in June-July 2009 with ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling.’ Only three other duos or groups have won both gold and silver medals in the same weekly competition: OutKast (eight weeks, 2003-04); Bee Gees (five, 1978); and The Beatles (10, 1964),” says Billboard.
