On Nov. 21, the 2021 American Music Awards will air on ABC, and BTS are nominated for multiple awards. Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook of BTS will also perform their song “Butter” at the award show with Megan Thee Stallion.

BTS are nominated for three awards at the 2021 American Music Awards

At the 2021 AMAs, BTS are nominated for three awards. The Korean septet received nominations for Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group, and Favorite Pop Song for “Butter.”

For Artist of the Year, BTS are nominated alongside Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd. The band are up against AJR, Glass Animals, Maroon 5, and Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) in the category for Favorite Pop Duo or Group.

In the Favorite Pop Song category, BTS are nominated for “Butter,” Doja Cat and SZA are nominated for “Kiss Me More,” Dua Lipa received a nomination for “Levitating, Olivia Rodrigo is nominated for “Drivers License,” and The Weeknd and Grande are nominated for “Save Your Tears (Remix).”

So far in AMAs history, BTS have won every award they have been nominated for. At the 2018 AMAs, the band won Favorite Social Artist.

The septet won Favorite Duo or Group Pop/Rock, Favorite Social Artist, and Tour of the Year at the 2019 AMAs. At the 2020 AMAs, BTS took home the awards for Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock and Favorite Social Artist.

BTS will perform at the 2021 American Music Awards with Megan Thee Stallion

At the 2017 AMAs, BTS made their first U.S. TV appearance and performed their song “DNA.” At the 2020 award show, the band performed “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On.”

The band will perform at the AMAs again on Nov. 21. At the award show, BTS and Megan Thee Stallion will perform a remix of BTS’ song “Butter” together.

Fans are excited for BTS’ performance

BTS originally released “Butter” on May 21, and the band dropped a remix of the song featuring Megan Thee Stallion on Aug. 27. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 10 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the chart.

After BTS and Megan Thee Stallion announced they will be performing together at the 2021 AMAs, ARMY celebrated on social media.

A fan wrote on Reddit, “It just hit me that we’re gonna go back to seeing BTS AT THE ACTUAL VENUE and receive awards rather than through just a screen.”

The 2021 AMAs will air on ABC on Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
