BTS: Jungkook Thinks the Band’s Grammy Awards Rehearsal Was ‘Better’ Than Their Performance
On April 3, BTS attended the 2022 Grammy Awards. The band’s song “Butter” was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook performed the song at the award show. In a VLIVE livestream, Jungkook admitted that he thought BTS’ rehearsal of “Butter” was “better” than their performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
BTS performed at the 2022 Grammy Awards
At the 2022 Grammy Awards, BTS performed “Butter” at the award show as one of the first performances of the night. The band’s rendition of “Butter” at the 2022 Grammy Awards was a never-before-seen interpretation with spy-themed elements.
Because Jin is currently recovering from surgery, he started the performance by sitting at a control panel. In a move reminiscent of his “Euphoria” performance from the septet’s BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself, Jungkook descended from the ceiling onto the stage.
The camera then showed Suga, J-Hope, RM, and Jimin sitting at different tables in the audience. V sat beside Olivia Rodrigo and the two whispered to each other.
Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook then performed a majority of the choreography for “Butter” while Jin sang from the control panel. The band’s Grammy Awards performance featured a new dance break using lasers and intricate jacket choreography.
For the final portion of the song, Jin joined Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook and danced on stage with the members.
Jungkook thinks BTS’ rehearsal was ‘better’
Immediately after the 2022 Grammy Awards, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook held a VLIVE livestream to talk about the award show with fans. During the VLIVE, the members shared that they were “nervous” about their Grammy Awards performance.
“But we tried a lot of different things at the Grammys and practiced for a long time,” J-Hope said in the VLIVE according to an English translation.
“We were really nervous too,” said V.
J-Hope agreed, adding, “Everything was live. So we were even more nervous.”
The members then joked about their performance, and Jungkook admitted he thought the band’s rehearsal was “better” than the performance fans saw on TV.
“To be honest, we did a lot better at the rehearsal,” Jungkook said of BTS’ performance.
Suga agreed, saying, “At the rehearsal we were all kind of relaxed.”
“We thought about it as a practice,” Jungkook said.
Jin admired BTS’ Grammy Awards performance
While some of the BTS members thought their rehearsal went smoother than the Grammy Awards performance, they spent a great deal of the VLIVE complimenting one another.
“It was the first time for me to see the members dance like that on stage…,” Jin shared with the members of BTS. “But when I saw you do the dance break on stage, I could understand why people like BTS.”
