The 2022 Grammy Awards were held on April 3. At the award show, BTS received a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their single “Butter.” Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook also performed at the award show. In an interview with Weverse Magazine, Jungkook of BTS shared that he “wasn’t really interested in actually winning” a Grammy Award at the award show.
Jungkook did not mind that BTS did not win a Grammy Award
BTS’ nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards was their second nomination at the award show and in the category.
The band’s performance of “Butter” at the 2022 Grammy Awards earned acclaim, but the band lost Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Speaking with Weverse Magazine, Jungkook shared that he did not mind that BTS lost the award.
“I think our status is there whether we win a Grammy or not. That was just, I don’t know—a good experience? It made me realize that, while I knew that winning the Grammy Award is a huge deal, I wasn’t really interested in actually winning one. I’m more interested in proving myself through my music. And it was great seeing performances from people I never saw live before,” Jungkook told Weverse Magazine.
Jungkook tested positive for COVID-19 leading up to the 2022 Grammy Awards
Before the 2022 Grammy Awards, both J-Hope and Jungkook tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19), giving them limited rehearsal time.
Jungkook was not cleared to attend the 2022 Grammy Awards until April 2, the day before the award show. In a Weverse announcement, Big Hit Music let fans know that Jungkook would be able to attend the 2022 Grammy Awards.
“Upon conclusion of the quarantine, Jung Kook took a rapid antigen test in the United States to join the schedule for the Grammy Awards. The result came back negative, and the awards organizer has approved of his Grammy Awards participation,” wrote Big Hit Music.
BTS put on ‘Permission to Dance On Stage – Las Vegas’ concerts
In the days following the 2022 Grammy Awards, BTS put on four concerts at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The Permission to Dance On Stage – Las Vegas concerts were held on April 8, April 9, April 15, and April 16.
In his interview with Weverse Magazine, Jungkook discussed how he felt during BTS’ Permission to Dance On Stage – Las Vegas concerts.
“I was definitely feeling good for the second and fourth shows,” Jungkook told Weverse Magazine. “And I had a lot of stamina and my throat was okay up to and including the second show. I was starting to lose stamina by the fourth show but my throat was still okay.”
He added, “It was hard since I felt like I couldn’t warm up my voice after having COVID-19. So I was really worried for the second show, but I felt like I was getting over the hump, which made me excited, and it was really fun.”
