BTS and Megan Thee Stallion Just Met up and the Pictures Are Everything

BTS and Megan Thee Stallion released a remix of BTS' song 'Butter' on Aug. 27. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the artists were unable to meet in person to work on the song. On Sept. 21, BTS and Megan Thee Stallion took fans by surprise when they posted selfies together.

On Aug. 27, BTS dropped a remix of their hit single “Butter” featuring Megan Thee Stallion. The remix was a huge hit, and following its release, the original “Butter” returned to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, BTS and Megan Thee Stallion’s interactions together surrounding the “Butter” remix were limited to social media.

However, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook recently traveled to New York City to speak at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, and BTS and Megan Thee Stallion were able to meet in person. On Sept. 21, the members of BTS and Megan Thee Stallion uploaded photos of their meeting on social media.

BTS and Megan Thee Stallion met in person

On Sept. 20, BTS delivered a speech at the Sustainable Development Goals Moment at the UN General Assembly. The septet was introduced by South Korean President Moon Jae-in, and the members also performed their single “Permission to Dance.”

In addition to speaking at the SDG Moment, the band visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art with South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook.

Fans of BTS were in for a pleasant surprise when Megan Thee Stalion shared photos with Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. In the photos, the members of BTS and Megan Thee Stallion pose for multiple selfies together, and V and Jimin can also be seen with Megan Thee Stallion’s dog.

Fans hope BTS and Megan Thee Stallion will perform together

When the “Butter” remix featuring Megan Thee Stallion dropped, a visualizer of the song was posted on YouTube. BTS and the Grammy Award-winning rapper then promoted the song separately using pink graphics, TikToks, and other social media posts.

With BTS and Megan Thee Stallion in the same place at the same time, fans of the artists could not help but hope there will be a performance or music video for the “Butter” remix soon.

“… Why do they look so good together!!! Is a performance too much to ask for ?” One fan wrote on Reddit.

Another fan on Reddit wrote, “… I really hope they can perform Thee Butter Remix together live, if not record a special MV. …Looking forward to any possibly future songs with them.”

Some fans also speculated that BTS could be meeting with Coldplay ahead of the release of their collaboration, “My Universe.”

“Oh something’s up for sure. With Coldplay in NY as well I wouldn’t be surprised if they are either recording performances of Thee Butter Remix and My Universe,” a Reddit user wrote.

Megan Thee Stallion went against her label to release the ‘Butter’ remix

Before the “Butter” remix dropped on Aug. 27, Megan Thee Stallion submitted a court filing that alleged her label 1501 Certified Entertainment was trying to stop the “Butter” remix from being released. A judge ruled in the rapper’s favor, and the remix was able to be released as scheduled.

In an interview with the London Evening Standard, the rapper shared why she was so intent on making sure the collaboration with BTS happened.

“I’m always going to fight for myself, I’m always going to stand up for myself. I feel like how dare anybody try to silence me? My label was just like, ‘Oh, we don’t like the song, so you’re not putting it out,’ and I’m like, ‘Since when has anybody ever been able to do that in the history of ever? That doesn’t even make any sense.’ I want to do a song with BTS, I’m a fan,” she told the London Evening Standard.

Megan Thee Stallion continued, “This is my first time to be able to touch international Hotties. It’s just a new opportunity to spread Megan, it’s a new opportunity to spread the positivity that I want to spread in the world. So I did everything I could do to get it out and now that it’s out we all feel such a relief and we feel so happy.”
