BTS and Megan Thee Stallion Will Perform ‘Butter’ at the 2021 American Music Awards
The 2021 American Music Awards will take place on Nov. 21. BTS are nominated for multiple awards at the award show, including Artist of the Year. On Nov. 8, it was announced that BTS will perform their hit song “Butter” with Grammy Award-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion. This will mark the debut performance of BTS’ “Butter” remix with Megan Thee Stallion.
BTS will perform with Megan Thee Stallion at the AMAs
At the 2021 AMAs, BTS are nominated for Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop Duo or Group, and Favorite Pop Song for “Butter.” Megan Thee Stallion is nominated for Favorite Female Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop, Favorite Trending Song for “Body,” and Favorite Album – Rap/ Hip-Hop for Good News.
BTS originally released “Butter” on May 21, and on Aug. 27, the band released a remix of the single featuring Megan Thee Stallion.
On Nov. 8, it was announced that the artists will perform the “Butter” remix at the 2021 AMAs.

Megan Thee Stallion shared BTS’ tweet and wrote, “I’m so exciteddd.”
BTS fans reacted to the news about the performance
Because of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, BTS did not perform “Butter” in person during the first few months of its promotion. The band and Megan Thee Stallion were also unable to promote the remix of the song together because of the pandemic.
In September 2021, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook met Megan Thee Stallion in person for the first time. After their meeting, the artists shared photos on social media.
After BTS’ upcoming performance of “Butter” was announced, BTS fans celebrated on social media.
“Can’t freaking wait!! If it’s anything like their 2019 BWL stage with Halsey, I know we are in for a treat! Love seeing a collab in which both artists respect each other,” one Reddit user wrote. “Less than two weeks from now!”
“It just hit me that we’re gonna go back to seeing BTS AT THE ACTUAL VENUE and receive awards rather than through just a screen,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
“So they get to see their fans sooner than we thought?? AHH THIS SONG IS GONNA POP OFF LIVE,” another fan wrote on Reddit.
What should fans expect from the ‘Butter’ remix performance?
The “Butter” remix features ad-libs by Megan Thee Stallion along with an additional verse by the rapper.
In her verse, Megan Thee Stallion raps:

As a special treat for fans, J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook filmed a dance for Megan Thee Stallion’s “Butter” verse. The original version of “Butter” features a choreographed dance routine that all seven members of BTS perform.
At the 2021 AMAs, there is no doubt BTS and Megan Thee Stallion will go all out for the performance. We can’t help but hope J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook will perform their special choreography to Megan Thee Stallion’s verse.
