Get ready, ARMY — a new BTS song is coming soon. Hot off the heels of the South Korean band’s latest Japanese album, Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~, the seven members — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Junkook — announced their next single through a VLIVE broadcast. Now, BTS fans can’t get over the casual way the group revealed the track’s release as they prepare for euphoria on Aug. 21.

For months, BTS fans have been gearing up for new music news. The seven members have continued to tease their next album, which will be self-produced. Back in April 2020, RM confirmed the band started preparing their next comeback album, noting they would keep ARMY posted along the way. 

“We’ll be sharing the process of preparing and stuff, which is a first,” RM said on VLIVE. “I’m a bit torn about how much we should show. But we’ll be trying to show you some of the processes that we go through together from now on.”

Then as expected, the BTS leader kept his promise. The group continued to share hints and updates with fans on social media. 

BTS reveals a new song will be released on Aug. 21, 2020

On July 26, BTS fans were treated with a special VLIVE broadcast featuring all seven members. They revealed the next album is coming along, as they’ve already shot the jacket photos. But the release date will be later this year.

Nevertheless, BTS did not leave ARMY hanging with vague timelines, as the group unveiled their new song will come out on Friday, August 21. The band revealed they wanted to “share some positive energy” with fans as the world continues to be impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, per Headline Planet. And according to J-Hope, the upcoming release will be a summer track. He also mentioned previous hits like “Mic Drop” and “Waste It on Me.” Meanwhile, V hinted the single will be in English.

“On August 21, 2020, the new digital single by BTS will be released on Korean and international music streaming sites,” the statement said. “We would like to thank all ARMY for your continued affection for BTS, and we ask for your love and support for the new digital single soon to be unveiled.”

The instant BTS announced the release date of their forthcoming single, ARMY brought the energy to social media as individuals expressed their excitement. The fandom trended multiple related hashtags on Twitter, with #BTSISCOMING in the number one spot worldwide. 

“Everyone should pack up now because the real kings are coming back #BTSISCOMING @BTS_twt,” a fan wrote on Twitter

Other members of ARMY are also preparing to break records when BTS unleashes the new track on Aug. 21.

“BTS pre-release single is in English,” a fan wrote. “Western industry should be shaking now, omg we getting that #1 on Hot100 & dominating on charts, save the date 21st August.”

Another fan wrote, “That single song on 8/21 by @BTS_twt will have the new record in every platform!!! Let’s do it ARMY!!!”

Meanwhile, many BTS fans noticed the septet unveiled the news to ARMY during a VLIVE session ahead of Big Hit Entertainment’s official announcement. Thus, making the journey toward the next album all the more intimate.

“When Jimin said they planned this live cuz they wanted to tell Armys the news themselves,” a fan wrote on Twitter. “Please they are the sweetest. They chose to come on Vlive rather than doing it the other way.”

“The biggest group in the world just bypassed every known industry promo tool in favor of wanting to tell fans directly about new music,” another ARMY wrote

Say what you want, but the connection between BTS and ARMY is something extraordinary. The band has gained massive amounts of fame and success since debuting in 2013. But the seven members continue to make fans feel special with every major milestone. So stay tuned. The journey’s not over yet.
