BTS Possibly Hint at a New Tour With ‘Permission to Dance’ Teaser

In 2020, BTS were supposed to take part in a world tour called the Map of the Soul Tour. The tour was postponed because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and BTS put on an online concert called Map of the Soul ON:E instead. In a new teaser for their upcoming single 'Permission to Dance,' the members of BTS hint about new tour stops and dates.

On July 9, BTS will release a new single called “Permission to Dance” as part of the CD for their single “Butter.” Big Hit Music shared a teaser for the song’s music video on July 6. The teaser shows Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook in western-themed attire. Multiple clues in the “Permission to Dance” teaser hint that BTS could announce a new era and tour dates soon.

BTS hint something big is coming in 2022 in the ‘Permission to Dance’ teaser

On July 6 at 11 a.m. EDT, Big Hit Music shared a teaser trailer for “Permission to Dance.” The trailer is just over 30 seconds long and opens with Suga reading a magazine called The Daily. The magazine’s cover contains clues about BTS’ future plans.

The backside of the cover reads “The Daily 2022 vol. 10.” This could mean that BTS will make an announcement about their 2022 tour or music plans following the release of “Permission to Dance.” The front of the magazine features multiple headlines about the end of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and a new music era for BTS.

Some of the headlines read:

  • “OUR LIFE GOES ON”
  • “BYE Let’s Not Meet Again Ever”
  • “2022 THE BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA GOOD BYE COVID-19”
  • “HARBINGERS OF HOPE: PURPLE BALLOONS SIGNAL THE END OF COVID-19”
  • “WE ALL WORKED TOGETHER TO OVERCOME IT. NOTHING COULD STOP US.”

J-Hope stands beside possible tour stops in the ‘Permission to Dance’ teaser

After viewers get a clear look at the magazine, Suga walks out from a laundromat and joins the other members of BTS. All seven members wear varying denim outfits, and both V and RM have on cowboy hats. While dancing, J-Hope points to a sign that has the names of multiple cities and countries along with BTS’ fandom, ARMY.

Each name is listed on an individual arrow in this order: Seoul, ARMY, London, San Francisco, Moscow, Egypt, Berlin, Kenya, and Paris. Based on this clue, the cities and countries shown in the teaser could be future BTS tour stops.

At the end of the teaser, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook line up outside of the laundromat, and V singing “Cause we don’t need permission to dance” can be heard.

BTS’ Map of the Soul Tour is postponed

In 2020, BTS were supposed to embark on their Map of the Soul Tour. Because of the coronavirus, the tour’s opening dates in Seoul were canceled and the remainder of the world tour was indefinitely postponed.

To replace the tour, BTS ended their Map of the Soul era with an online concert called Map of the Soul ON:E. Even after the online concert, the postponed dates in North America, Europe, and Japan were not canceled or rescheduled.

If BTS announce a world tour for 2022, it is unclear if dates from the Map of the Soul Tour will be rescheduled and rebranded for BTS’ new era or if an entirely new tour will be promoted.
