BTS Reveal Tracklist for ‘Butter’ CD and Give Details About Their New Single ‘Permission to Dance’

On July 9, BTS will release a physical CD for their single 'Butter.' The CD will include a new track called 'Permission to Dance.' Ed Sheeran, Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid, and Jenna Andrews wrote the new song. Mac, Stephen Kirk, and Andrews produced 'Permission to Dance.' Besides the title and collaborators, not much is known about the upcoming song.

“Butter” is BTS’ second English-language single. Since Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook released the single on May 21, the song has spent five consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. On July 9, BTS will release a physical CD of “Butter.” BTS’ upcoming CD will include multiple tracks, including a new song called “Permission to Dance” that was co-written by Ed Sheeran.

BTS will release ‘Permission to Dance’ on July 9

Right now, not much is known about “Permission to Dance.” The “Butter” CD will include “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” “Butter (Instrumental),” and “Permission to Dance (Instrumental).” Big Hit Music officially revealed the CD’s tracklist on July 1.

A press release about the CD describes “Permission to Dance” as a song “that will get your heart pumping.” Sheeran, Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid, and Jenna Andrews participated in writing the song. Mac, Stephen Kirk, and Andrews produced “Permission to Dance.”

In a post on Weverse, Big Hit Music described the CD release for fans, writing:

“In celebration of ARMY’s birthday, BTS’s ‘Butter’ CD single will be released on Friday, July 9, available for pre-order from Tuesday, June 15. 

In addition to the digital single ‘Butter’ that was saturated by an outpouring of love from fans everywhere, the CD will include a new track that will make your heart beat to the rhythm of BTS’s positive energy. We look forward to the love and support from all fans.”

Ed Sheeran hinted about ‘Permission to Dance’ on Instagram

Sheeran recently released a new single of his own called “Bad Habits.” The singer-songwriter appeared on Most Requested Live on June 26 to promote the track, and during the appearance, he revealed that he co-wrote a new song for BTS.

“BTS. I’ve actually worked with BTS on their last record, and I’ve just written a song for their new record. And they’re like super, super cool guys as well,” Sheeran said.

A few days later on June 28, Sheeran hinted on his Instagram story that the song he co-wrote was “Permission to Dance” when he was asked about his favorite BTS song.

“I’d say my favorite BTS song is their new song, ‘Permission to Dance,'” he said.

At that point, Big Hit Music had not confirmed the title of the additional track on the “Butter” CD. Before working on “Permission to Dance,” Sheeran previously collaborated with BTS by co-writing “Make It Right,” a song on BTS’ 2019 EP Map of the Soul: Persona.

How BTS fans can buy the ‘Butter’ CD

The “Butter” CD is available for pre-order on Weverse Shop. There are two different versions of the “Butter” CD for BTS fans to choose from. The Cream version of the “Butter” CD features a yellow CD cover, and the Peaches version has an orange design.

Each version of the CD includes a photo book, poster, randomized photo card, CD, and more. A single CD costs $26.50 on the Weverse Shop for fans who live in the U.S.
