BTS: RM Sang Suga’s ‘What Do You Think?’ Back in 2016 and We Can’t Stop Thinking About It
BTS member RM is the spoiler king and no one can tell us otherwise. For years, the God of Destruction has dropped hints about upcoming projects on VLIVE — whether it’s intentional or not. Now, BTS fans have uncovered an old broadcast of RM singing Suga’s “What Do You Think?” four years before the song was released on the new Agust D mixtape, D-2.

On May 22, BTS fans were delivered a feast when Suga unleashed his latest Agust D mixtape, D-2, along with the music video for “Daechwita.” The release came four years after Suga’s first solo project, Agust D. And for the most part, D-2 came as a surprise to the fandom.
During a DJ Suga’s Honey FM 06.13 session, the “Moonlight” rapper told ARMY he wouldn’t drop the mixtape for a while after RM questioned the release date.
“What I can tell you now is, that the music will not be released anytime soon,” Suga said on May 2. “Not close at all. Not today or tomorrow. Please wait for a while. And I’ll come back with good music.”
Then later, in a separate VLIVE session with J-Hope, Suga revealed he was a little flustered because RM spoiled the mixtape’s release.
“The other day, RM made a huge spoiler on my mixtape,” Suga said and laughed. “I was a bit embarrassed. After the spoiler, many asked me when the mixtape would be disclosed. I thought such a surprise could make you happier and more excited.”
BTS fans discover RM singing Suga’s ‘What Do You Think’ from ‘D-2’
Now, this may not have been the first time RM spoiled Suga’s solo project. Following the D-2 release, fans did some digging and found out the BTS leader sang a few lines of “What Do You Think?” from the latest Agust D mixtape. But what caught everyone’s attention was that RM delivered the lines back in 2016.
In the VLIVE broadcast, RM delved deep into the creation of the Wings album. Then around the 34:38 mark, the leader opened up about the rap line track titled “BTS Cypher Pt. 4.” He explained Suga wrote part of the song and started singing the verse. RM confirmed they decided to take out the lines in the end. But as we know now, Suga put them into “What Do You Think.”
After BTS fans made the discovery, many individuals commented on RM’s spoiler king status. “From now on i’m keeping tabs on every song namjoon randomly sings during a live with the advantage knowing it will be released 4 years later,” a fan wrote on Twitter.
Of course, this may not be a true spoiler. It seems more likely the rapper didn’t realize Suga would use the lines in a solo track at the time. The VLIVE took place four years ago, after all. But even so, many fans pointed out this means Suga has been working hard on D-2 for four years.
“Yoongi wrote ‘what do you think’ in 2016 ?!!” a fan wrote on Twitter. “THIS MASTERPIECE WAS JUST SITTING IN HIS LAPTOP FOR 4 YEARS ?!”
“Namjoon mentioned ‘what do you think’ in his 2016 vlive which is in D-2,” another fan tweeted. “EXACTLY HOW MUCH THEY’RE HIDING FROM US.”
Nevertheless, this may not come as a surprise to some fans. During an interview with Billboard published on May 22, Suga confirmed D-2 has been an ongoing project since 2016.
“It’s fun,” Suga said of revisiting Agust D. “I hope everyone enjoys the documentation of myself from 2016 onwards.”
