‘Dynamite’ re-peaked at No. 1

“Dynamite” is BTS’ first song to be sung entirely in English. The K-pop group released the song on Aug. 21, and the disco-pop track has been a hit with U.S. listeners. After “Dynamite” re-peaked at No. 1, Billboard listed out how the song achieved such a feat.

“It returns to No. 1 from the runner-up spot on the strength of 14 million U.S. streams (up 11%) and 153,000 downloads sold (up 96%) in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It also drew 20.8 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 8%) in the week ending Sept. 27,” Billboard reported.

In addition to reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100 again, “Dynamite” also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 for the first time and remained at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for a second week.

BTS’ success with the song

After releasing “Dynamite” on Aug. 21, the music video broke the record for the biggest YouTube premiere of all time with 3 million concurrent viewers. It went on to set the YouTube record for the most-viewed video within its first 24 hours with 101.1 million views.

On Aug. 31, the song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This marked BTS’ first No. 1 song on the chart and made the band the first all-South Korean group to hit No. 1 on the Hot 100. In its second week, “Dynamite” remained at No. 1. Out of the 43 songs in history to ever debut at No. 1, “Dynamite” is the 20th song to stay at No. 1 the following week.

“AHHHHHHHHH!!! It’s a hit, it’s a hit, it’s a big big hit!!! Advanced Happy Birthday, Jimin! All their promos for Dynamite have been done well and received well. Their TinyDesk concert got so much positive feedback as well as the Fortnite party! We’ll have Fallon boost the boys’ exposure this week,” wrote a Reddit user.

“Wow! This song definitely isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. And to think that a few months back, achieving longevity on the hot 100 was a pipe dream for us,” one Reddit user wrote.
