BTS’ new album has sub-unit songs

Of the eight tracks on BE (Deluxe Edition), two of the songs are sub-unit songs. “Fly To My Room” will be performed by Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V. “Stay” will be performed by Jin, RM, and Jungkook.

The remaining tracks will be performed by all seven members. According to a press release, “Blue & Grey” is a “pop ballad with guitar sounds,” “Telepathy” is “filled with funky rhythm,” “Dis-ease” is an “old school hip-hop” track, and “Skit” is a “vivid record of the conversations they had” after “Dynamite” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

More details about the album’s lead single ‘Life Goes On’

“Life Goes On” is the lead single on BTS’ new album, and a music video for the song will be released at midnight EST on Nov. 20. Pdogg is the producer of the song, and Pdogg, RM, Ruuth, Chris James, Antonina Armato, Suga, and J-Hope are credited as songwriters.

The press release states that “Life Goes On” is an alternative hip-hop track with “sentimental acoustic guitar sounds.” With the song, the band members give a comforting message when so much of this year has been disrupted because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

For the “Life Goes On” music video, Big Hit Entertainment released two different teaser trailers. The first teaser shows the BTS members sitting around a campfire and later sitting in a living room watching TV. The second teaser showed black-and-white still photographs of the BTS members.

Jungkook is credited with directing the music video for “Life Goes On.” In the second teaser for the music video, the final photograph shown is one of Jungkook holding a camera, presumably filming the music video.

BTS are self-producing the album

When the Korean band first announced they were working on a new album in April, the members also revealed that they would be self-producing the album and working on all aspects of the album’s production.

The press release went into more detail, explaining, “With every project, BTS channeled their voices through music as they actively participated in the creative process, but this time in particular, the band took it a step further; they assigned a PM (Project Manager) for each area and was fully engaged from the concept planning to the layout phase and visual aspects of the record.”

With this level of involvement, BE (Deluxe Edition) “contains the band’s emotions and ruminations” about this disruptive year. The title, BE, “stands for ‘to be’ or ‘existence’ and does not abide by any form.”
