BTS’ Map of the Soul era consists of two albums; their 2019 EP Map of the Soul: Persona and their 2020 studio album Map of the Soul: 7. Originally, the Korean band was supposed to embark on their Map of the Soul Tour in 2020 to complete the era.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the world tour was indefinitely postponed. To give fans a concert for the Map of the Soul era, BTS put on “Map of the Soul ON:E.” Both virtual performances featured a 23-song setlist, with the band changing a few songs on the setlist for each show.

To attend the concert, ARMY around the world purchased tickets on Weverse Shop. According to a press release from Big Hit Music, “Map of the Soul ON:E” brought in 993,000 viewers.
